I see comments about the run game about a team that passed the ball 61% of the time in 2021.

The owner gave the QB a 40m x 4 contract to hand the ball off? He paid that RB when he thought they were a running team, they are not.

The OC and HC are known as passing coaches. Some feel neither can pass as a coach but they are there regardless.

The owner is a follow the ball GM and favors the excitement of the passing game and the entertainment value of that. I cannot argue with that, I think most would rather see passing and acrobatic catches than runs and defense.

So, they tag Schultz and some are surprised by that? He was a favorite target of the QB and the owner remembers what happened when Aikman lost Novacek.

If that surprised you, what are you going to be like if they go for a WR in the first? Think they won't?

This team is all about weaponizing the offense and QB. The owner looks at it as insurance on his 160M investment.

And don't think he isn't looking at that Rams model with Kupp, Woods, Jefferson and Beckham returning and that GB model with Adams and then? Makes what Rodgers did with one WR even more amazing.

So, this gets a lot easier if you just accept what this is and not what you want it to be. Gone are those days of 55% run with Emmitt and not to return.

This is a passing team and that is just what the owner wants it to be so all decisions flow from that one fact.

I look at this as a positive, at least that's an identity. Might not be the one I want but it is one the team can understand. I do not think that 61% passing was an anomaly, I think it will be closer to 65% this season.

They could at least make it look like they want to run. You have Elliot and Pollard for at least this coming season. We played and looked so much better by running it with ball control and using play action. Running opens the pass. If we play the same way we did the last half of this past season then we are in trouble. No off tackle runs. O-Line not blocking run or pass very well and penalties.

Run the ball and call some shorter quicker passes. Up tempo to start. Slow it down later and play action with some deep shots. How hard is that for Moore to understand.

Do you think McC and/or Moore are making the decision on what kind of offense the Cowboys have?

Air Dak doesn't seem like the best plan. Having Moore and McCarthy running the ship doesn't give me warm fuzzies, either.

At best, 2022 will match 2021. I suspect it will actually be a bit of a drop off, followed by more Jerry scapegoating.

In all honesty. This seems more to me like clearing the books for Payton to come in to a clean slate of cap space. Just my 2 pennies

I’ve always been curious how much the head coach even gets to choose here.

We know the owner/GM hires most of the assistant coaches, attends coaches meetings, occasionally overrules coach’s discipline decisions, (as we saw with Zeke in 2017 after the Denver game and with Greg Hardy in 2015) reviews game plans, makes contract decisions…does the HC here even pick starters? (I doubt it)

Looks like the HC in Big D manages the clock, and advises the owner of what he sees. We know the owner thinks 500 guys could coach this team.

Then he hired the wrong QB. Dak needs a run game and needs to even use his own legs to open the pass game. JJ knows this. If he doesn’t go back to a at least more balanced game then he will be really upset.

MM is terrible at clock management..

And that’s the problem Couch. Dak isn’t Rogers or Stafford. I have no doubt in my mind if he played for Shanny he would have probably won two SB’s by now. That’s the style of offense he belongs in. These dudes are fools.

Well, we already know the GM makes the decision on the D because after Parcells he said they were staying with the 3/4.

Some GM's hire the HC based on what he wants to do; this one decides what he wants to do and gets a HC to go along with it. That's what that 12 hour interview was about. McC wasn't selling himself to Booger as much as Booger was getting him to buy into what he would do to get and keep the job.

Not going to win in the post season as a passing team. That may work vs. NFC least, but not against better quality opponents.QB,Oline, coaching, culture, play calling must improve drastically for that to happen.

No argument from me, not my choice. But it does help to understand all decisions support that part of this.

Booger is almost 80 and he is going to sit up there and watch the type football he wants to see and I don't blame him for that, he owns it and doesn't owe anybody anything, not even the fans. They stay around anyway so they get what they deserve. No one is forced to be a fan of this franchise.

Agree, I am not advocating for a passing team, just accepting that's what this is so going on about the run or run blocking TE's is a waste of time. They know Schultz is not a good blocking TE and they tagged him, need we see more?

The only positive is that it is an identity and that's better than not having one or not serving it.

Just wish winning came before $ as they continue to rake it in no matter how good or bad the team is.

No I really don't think they will go wr in round 1. They will likely go Center or Guard, maybe DE, and maybe TE if there is value. For that matter we need a LB with Parsons potentially playing a lot of DE.

There are far too many needs for another WR in round one.

Fine line between "favorite target" and panic check downs I suppose.

Was there a need for a WR when they took Lamb? What you and I call want, Booger calls need.

He can justify any pick he wants with their magic erasable draft board. And the fact he can do damn well what he pleases.
