The last couple of games I have seen announcers almost go ape over "GB is the youngest team in the NFL"...Joe Buck must have said it at least 10-12 times the other day...but when I was looking at some of their starters, I knew they were older guys...I also knew we had a pretty young team too, and wanted to see how we compare (since the perception is we DONT have a young team). I compared the CURRENT 53 man roster for each team and found some pretty interesting stuff:
1) GB's average age right now is 26.03yrs
2) Dallas' average age? 26.11 yrs
3) starters over age 30- GB has 6 (Favre, Driver, Tauscher, Clifton, Woodson and Harris) Dallas has only 4 (Adams, Owens, Ellis and Henry)
4) Since the bottom of the roster is usually loaded with 1st and 2nd yr players that could skew the avg age, I decided to take only the 24 players (22+K/P) listed as starters to see what the results were:
Green Bay's 24 starters- 27.0
Dallas' 24 starters- 27.42
I used Henry as our starting CB, even though he has not started since week 5...if I took him out and replaced him with Reeves we'd be at 27.17
considering how they stress that "GB is youngest team in the NFL" so much shouldnt they be mentioning we're also one of the youngest teams? I believe we were 3rd or 4th youngest when the yr started, we might be 2nd now (if GB is really the youngest)...and I bet this is something NFL Network will say over and over again Thursday night as well, while never mentioning that there is almost NO difference in the avg age of our teams
