He had a decent showing in game one for sure. I'll go back and rewatch to See just how good he was.

However, he had a big first two days in camp then did nothing.

Actually, he had a couple of slow days and picked his play back up. He was getting to the QB fairly often. Considering that he is a rookie, he gave Smith and Free some trouble at times. He has been impressive to have a small school background.

I also dont see Dockery getting cut.

Even though he was atrocious vs oak

Have to agree that the odds of Dockery making it seem better than for T Williams.
But the scenario described coud work too

the main issue i have with all these lists is we likely sign a couple guys off other squads.

at least this list mentions the oakland backup punter... but i suspect there are a couple other guys we sign after final cuts. between injuries and lack of depth some positions are easily upgraded still via free agents.

i dont think we want more than 4 of our current WRs on the active roster. we may well place 2 on the PS.

we'll probably add at least one more external OL. i am not sure at all that dockery is here. some of these guys are getting auditions as others are on other teams and dallas will take whomever they like more after cuts.

i dont think adrian hamilton is on the active roster. i believe he is a practice squad guy. he needs a year in an nfl weight room.

stephen mcgee. i think u guys are all wayyy too certain we'd only keep 2 QBs. I dont buy that at all and Redball says that's not his desire. he is an ex-QB that places a high priority on the position. no way you want to be a couple plays away from rudy carpenter starting for you. if nothing else mcgee has recent starting experience for this team. he may be replaced next year by a draftee but i doubt he gets cut this year.

And this is a good place to mention what I put in the other thread regarding Oakland's backup punter.

Yes, he had a 60-yarder against us, but he averaged just 33.0 yards on five punts in that game. Our punter averaged 42.3 and had a 56-yarder.

And the difference isn't because of punts downed inside the 20, King had two while Jones had three of his four downed inside the 20.

So there could not be more than one up and comer at the same position? Sounds like you are biased due to an agenda. I hope both Butler and Hamilton make it and play lights out for the Cowboys in relief of Ware and Spencer. The more good players on the roster the better.

And there might be another OLB to push both Butler and Hamilton. Baraka Atkins did not look half bad either. If he can just finish he could be a steal. And Albright looked very good playing both inside and outside.

And Dockery is a scrub. A vet, but a scrub nonetheless. He is a placeholder at best.

I think that Hamilton will have the same problem as Butler, playing the run. He is on the small side for a 3-4 SOLB.

Albright and Baraka Atkins have better size for the SOLB position.

Is everyone blind??? Kowalski should be starting center. Maybe Hemmed Bass and Albright will start? Holmes should be WR #3!!!!

Here are my reasons for the questionable inclusions/omissions, etc..

1. I realize the 7 WRs is highly unlikely. I'm projecting that it would only be for a few weeks. At some point, maybe even after week 1, they would probably cut a WR and a Vet OL would return when their salary is not guaranteed for the season.

I could see them keeping Ogletree early in the season because he is the most experienced. If another young WR started making progress, then Ogletree could get cut mid-season. He is not a vested Veteran and his salary is not guaranteed for the season.

I think that 1 or 2 of the young WRs are going to become legit NFL players. The problem is that I just don't know which one.

2. If Bernadeau, Livings, and Costa are all healthy for week 1, then I don't see any reason to guarantee Dockery's salary. They can make it through 1 game with Arkin/Leary as the backup OG/OC.

By not having guaranteed contracts for Dockery or Loper or McQuistan, it allows the possibility of bringing in another Vet like Holland if problems arise.

3. You can laugh about Teddy Williams; however, if you study the depth chart in practices and the 1st preseason game, the 5th CB appears to be either Mario Butler or Teddy Williams. It could be both on the off chance that Jenkins starts the season on the PUP.

It has been reported that TW received the 1st teams reps in the nickel defense while Claiborne was out. It was clear in the Oakland game that TW and Butler were ahead of Smith, Wilson, AOA, etc.. on the depth chart.

Also, TW was one of the primary "gunners" on special teams against Oakland. Getting and important role on special teams in the preseason if often an indicator that a backup has a chance to make the team.

Just because Tim MacMahon continually pumps out his negative opinion of long-shots like TW, it does not correlate with the objective data.

4. I realize that it is doubtful that both Spears and Coleman get cut; however, Stephen Jones does love to save money.

I think Lissemore becomes the starter at LDE with Hatcher at RDE. Crawford appears to be more ready to contribute than most expected coming into Training Camp. Clifton Geathers received more snaps than anyone else on the defense in the Oakland game.

5. The 2 QB issue is one of the few times that the majority of the media and the majority of message board posters agree. OK, that's not a ringing endorsement of an opinion, but that's all I've got at the moment.

We won't carry 7 WR's with the injuries on the OL and in the secondary.

Leary hasn't gotten any snaps at center and I would be extremely worried with Arkin as the primary backup center. Bernadeau will probably end up being the emergency center until Kowalski gets healthy.

No, Teddy Williams has a 0% chance of making the roster. Ask Spagnola and Broaddus. He won't make the roster.

Also, TW was one of the primary "gunners" on special teams against Oakland. Getting and important role on special teams in the preseason if often an indicator that a backup has a chance to make the team.

Coleman stays and Spears either gets traded or cut IMO. Cutting Coleman AND Spears would put too much faith in youth, which isn't always a good thing.

I'll see your font size 5 and raise you font size 7.

I have 10 in the secondary. Are you saying they will carry more?

I could see them keeping Ogletree early in the season because he is the most experienced. If another young WR started making progress, then Ogletree could get cut mid-season. He is not a vested Veteran and his salary is not guaranteed for the season.

Keeping Dockery does not change the status at Center.

3. You can laugh about Teddy Williams; however, if you study the depth chart in practices and the 1st preseason game, the 5th CB appears to be either Mario Butler or Teddy Williams. It could be both on the off chance that Jenkins starts the season on the PUP.

If you're going to quote Internet Writers, then please include the link.

I know that Spagnola said that he would not commit to a roster projection until after the 2nd preseason game.

Maybe, but Lissemore is in year 3. Also, Stephen Jones has repeatedly talked about not wanting to pay too much for backups. Rob Ryan would probably keep Coleman, but Stephen Jones could easily override him on this one. They didn't sign McBriar over about 300k and they are considering a younger deep snapper when Ladouceur only makes 750K.

5. The 2 QB issue is one of the few times that the majority of the media and the majority of message board posters agree. OK, that's not a ringing endorsement of an opinion, but that's all I've got at the moment.

I won't quote your last post for obvious reasons.

1) They.won't.carry.seven.wide.receivers.

2) I have them keeping 10 in the secondary as well, but I have them keeping Mario Butler as the CB/S tweener and Mana Silva as the insurance until Matt Johnson is healthy.

3) Dockery, who I think is a JAG, is the only veteran backup on the roster right now. They won't go into the season with Arkin and Leary as the primary backups.

4) Ugh, this is from Calvin Watkins today:

"The team placed Teddy Williams on the second-team defense at the start of camp, and he's since been moved down the depth chart. Getting a veteran corner couldn't hurt, especially at the late stages of camp with the younger players not performing on a consistent level."

Good enough?

5) It's possible Coleman and Spears both get cut, but I just don't see it happening. I would keep Coleman over a guy like Geathers who looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

Loper and McQuistan are veterans also.

Come-on Mayne, Calvin Watkins?

T. Williams was 2nd team in both preseason games, ahead of AOA, Smith, Wilson, etc..

5) It's possible Coleman and Spears both get cut, but I just don't see it happening. I would keep Coleman over a guy like Geathers who looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

This will be my last response because there's only so much I can say. To each his own...

Dockery would get the nod over Loper, and McQuistan has been playing primarily at tackle and sometimes center. There's a reason why Dockery is starting at LG over both of them.

Actually, Calvin Watkins is pretty reliable when it comes to insider stuff. No one's perfect, but I'll go with Calvin over a fan on a message board.

Did you watch the game last night? Teddy Williams was absolutely brutal on kickoff returns. He's not a football player and he won't make the team.

How are Kickoff returns and playing CB related?

xw: i have to side with him on this one. depth cb need to help you on special teams.

i dont know why they keep messing with teddy but they apparently like his physical skillset just not his ability to play any one position. end of the day some guys just arent football players.

if teddy had 3 years of cb experience from college i bet he'd be a quality player but it is hard to make up that experience in the nfl.

i dont think he sticks.

Still think Kwas makes the team. You just can't afford to let a guy that talented go...
