My 53ish
QB: (2)
Tony Romo
Kyle Orton
PS: Rudy Carpenter
The decision to go with 2 is a hard one, but McGee hasn't shown anything and Carpenter isn't but a arm to throw in camp. I really wished for a guy like Harnish in the 7th round back in the draft. The only good thing is we will not need Orton much this year
RB: (4)
DeMarco Murry
Felix Jones
Phillip Tanner
Lawrence Vickers
PS: Jamize Olawale
Pretty easy to predict this. Although Felix doesn't quite look the same, I think he may be too bulked up kinda like Julius was after a full offseason with BP. DeMarco will be a pillar of this offense and Tanner could very well be #2 next year as well. Vickers is gonna be on the highlight reel with some of his blocks too. I'm really excited about our running game with Vickers, Livings and Bernadeau in front of him. Olawale is a good developmental guy and runs very hard considering his background. Though, I wouldn't trust him for extended periods.
TE: (3)
Jason Witten
John Phillips
James Hanna
PS: Andrew Szczerba
This is a easy choice, although I cannot accurately predict what the staff is going to do with Witten out for these last few weeks. I think Hanna can become a moderate weapon in his absence worst case with Phillips doing some of the hard blocking work. Szczerba could very well be our #3 next year if Phillips leaves too.
WR: (5)
Dez Bryant (Duh!)
Miles Austin
Cole Beasley
Kevin Ogletree
Dwayne Harris
PS:Andre Holmes, Danny Coale
I think we go with 5, for now unless someone gets hurt and Holmes earns a chance. I still am persistant that Ogletree could be cut and replaced with someone after final cuts (Kyle Williams in SF) for example. Cole and Dwayne will both play special teams too, giving them more accountability and flexibility, making them hard to cut. Holmes may play his way up too and move Ogletree off the roster. Coale hasn't played so he's going to the PS for now...
Offensive Line: (10)
Tyron Smith
Nate Livings
Phil Costa
Mackenzy Bernadeau
Doug Free
Jeremy Parnell
David Arkin
Kevin Kowalski
Ronald Leary
Pat McQuistan
PS: Daniel Loper
The Oline can have a few changes too, but the starting 5 is guaranteed as are Parnell, Arkin, Kowalski and Leary IMO. McQuistan is kept only because Dockery has been garbage and could be swapped for a better lineman after one is cut. Leary will probably see time this year to see if he can hold up for us in the future as the swing OG. Loper may get moved around for other PS talent too.
Defensive Line: (7)
Jason Hatcher
Jay Ratliff
Marcus Spears
Tyrone Crawford
Rob Callaway
Sean Lissemore
Kenyon Coleman
PS: Ben Bass
We all know the starting 3 and Crawford and Lissemore are safe. I placed Coleman for his veteran leadership and attitude. Callaway has shown more push to me this preseason and he gets the edge. I always love to churn and churn the roster
LB: (9)
DeMarcus Ware
Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Anthony Spencer
Dan Connor
Victor Butler
Alex Albright
Kyle Wilber
Adrian Hamilton
PS: Orie Lemon
McSurdy to IR
I chose to keep Hamilton over Lemon because of his pass rush ability. The fact that Albright can backup both ILB and OLB gives him a big jump up over Lemon and since we are auditioning for OLB for next year we need to see what Hamilton can do. The other personnel are pretty much locks making this the deepest position on the roster.
CB: (5)
Brandon Carr
Morris Claiborne
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick
Lionel Smith
PS: Teddy Williams
The top 4 are easy to pick. Smith makes it over Mario Butler because of his awful timing in coverage and Smith's ability as a pure CB is better than Butler's versatility.
Safety: (4)
Gerald Sensabaugh
Barry Church
Matt Johnson
Danny McCray
PS: Eddie Whitley
This is another easy position group to pick after the Pool release. Whitley offers some developing talent at S as well.
Specialists: (3)
Dan Bailey
Chris Jones
LP LaDouceur
Yes, I only have 52 players here, we will sign someone to the roster, but my crystal ball isn't working right now. It could be a CB or a WR or even a QB. We very well may drop more than just one guy and pick up several players in needed positions. We've seen several guys progress (Beasley) and several not progress enough (Felix, Brent). Time will only tell..
