I would like to find a true blocking tight end instead of Rosario.

Someone like Martellus would be perfect in that spot right now.

Looks good, I'd be happy to see Jakar make the team. He has a huge amount of upside.

Good work, thanks. I think there's a chance Andre Smith makes it over Rosario. I've been impressed the times I've watched Smith.

I'd like to put Andre Smith on the PS as I think he can be the blocking TE we really want to fully diversify the offense. It sounds like he has decent hands and good size and strength but just doesn't have good speed to be a very good receiving threat. The blocking dimension is valuable, though.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind keeping Smith over Rosario but it sounds like Rosario is really needed for STs.

McCray over Hamilton, I think Livings gets cut and we bring in a FA guard or stick with Costa/Kowalski/Arkin, Hayden over Long.

Yes, that could happen. Also, Broaddus and some of the other media discussed keeping 5 TEs.

I don't know if he is eligible. I think he spent some time on Chicago's 53 man roster in 2011; although, I don't think he was ever active on the 46 man game day roster.

i dont know anything about jerome long, how is he doing in TC?

Like Underwood in the secondary, a player along the defensive line that has shown up well in this camp is
  • Jerome Long. Where Long has done a nice job is playing inside at tackle but like so many of these players on this line, he has shown some flexibility to also play at end. At the point he has been physical and when paired with other teammates, he has done a solid job working the twist games as the penetrator allowing the looper to get home. It has not mattered who Long has worked against, he has shown up on film. In this game on Sunday night, Long, Monte Taylor, Jeris Pendleton, Landon Cohen and George Selvie will be receiving plenty of work against the Dolphins but this is not a bad situation for these players because of the need for backup defensive linemen on the roster.

Yes, they probably keep McCray or possibly Frampton due to their special teams ability and try to slide Hamilton to the practice squad.

There are many reports that Livings' contract is guaranteed for 2013.

Martellus was near perfect before as a blocking TE, but he wanted to be more. I don't blame him for wanting to try to be a #1 TE though. I loved his blocking skills.

I think the debate on whether to keep McCray who is really only a special teams player over another guy with a lot more upside as a position player will be an interesting debate. Something tells me this one will come down to the wire and will be based in part on who gets hurt in camp.

If everything else remains equal I predict that McCray gets bumped for another player based on a couple of different factors, including:

1. His salary cap number keeps climbing.
2. The depth of talent acquired on the roster will leave less room to keep a special teams player that can't contribute as a positional player.
3. The team has acquired more overall special teams talent which makes McCray slightly less important than if he is one of the few quality special teams players on the roster.
4. McCray has very little, if any upside as a player, so you have to consider the upside of a player he is competing against for a roster spot.
5. If we develop a positional player instead of McCray if that player eventually improves and bumps an older more expensive player off of the roster it will help us keep a healthy cap.

Wow. Nice job, OP. I'd say Hayden over Long, and I think Livings is IR'd and we end up with either Coughman/Weems or a FA on the OL. Otherwise, this is pretty much exactly what I'd project, including the PS candidates.

One question does Jared Green have PS eligibility?

I like Andre Smith as that blocking TE with receiving ability.

One question does Jared Green have PS eligibility?

I originally thought that Hayden would be the 5th DT if they keep 5, but Long has received very good reviews since he's been here.

Livings could be put on the designated for return IR; although, he would have to be on the 53 man roster for game 1 in order to be eligible for that designation. I don't see him being put on the standard IR. They could cut him and bring him back if he gets healthy; however, they would probably have to pay all of his salary if it really is guaranteed.

I initially thought that Weems would be a strong candidate to be the 4th OT and 10th OL, but he has really struggled in TC. He appears to have the required physical ability but appears lost from a technique/scheme perspective. From what I've been able to see, Coughman is been better, but that was at RT vs LT for Weems. I think Coughman will make it to the Practice Squad. Weems might make it to the practice squad.

Jared Green was on the Panthers practice squad in 2012; therefore, he appears to be eligible for the PS again.

Frampton might be equal to McCray in Special Teams ability. He was the ST Ace while with the Vikings. I believe that his salary is about 1/2 of McCray's and he is a better Safety than McCray. I would prefer that they keep Hamilton, but they will probably try to slide him to the practice squad.

Good list. I think they keep four running backs because Tanner is a good special teamed and all will play quite a bit.

I also think there are two or three guys that will be here that aren't here yet.
