Phil Taylor-DL- Player Jan. 26 - 5:18 pm et

Baylor NT Phil Taylor intends to shed 5-10 more pounds before February's Scouting Combine.

He's shed 30 lbs since his junior year. A true nose tackle, Taylor measured 6'4/337 at Monday's weigh-in and has impressed in practices. He's shaping up as a poor man's Terrence Cody and possible second-day selection.

To no one's surprise, Taylor weighed in Monday as the heaviest player for Saturday's Senior Bowl. He stands 6-foot-3 1/2 inches tall and weighs 337 pounds. He's actually lost about 30 pounds since his junior season and he's apparently not finished.

"I want to lose another five to 10 pounds," he said. Taylor attended Gwynn Park High in Clinton, Md., and started his career at Penn State under defensive line coach Larry Johnson Sr.

He said he hopes to report to the NFL Scouting Combine next month around 330 pounds and faster than ever. To prepare, he's been working out at Velocity Sports in Naples, Fla.

Hmmmmmmmmm are cotton picking Commanders interested in Taylor zoners, think they may try to draft him before us?

If we do move Ratliff to DE we are going to need another NT to help Brent, and I think Taylor or a big NT like him would really help our 3-4 defense.

Doesn't Terrance Cody actually have to do something in the NFL before we start referencing another player as a "poor man's" version of him.

I sure hope so, piss poor work ethic and attitude. He is perfect for the Skins. Him putting on this "work-a-holic" persona when it's time to collect will just project to his entire career. Expect nothing from him except in contract years.
