Roughing the Strahan... 15 yard penalty

I realize this is another complaint thread in a sea of complaint threads, but I didn't see any threads specifically about this play, and I think it was absurd enough to warrant its own thread.

How was Davis to know the ball had been thrown. His head didn't turn toward Tony Romo the entire play. I think this was just a bonehead call, to go along with many others in the game. Absurd penalties and dropped passes/missed throws are the reason we lost this game.

Roughing the Strahan.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but was the explanation by the ref that the hit was not necessary because it would have no outcome on the play? When in the heck has that EVER been called?

The absurdity of that call would be equivalent to calling RtP on defensive players every single time for hitting the QB after he has already released the ball, no matter if it was a split second or two seconds after he released it.

And Davis' head was never turned so he could even know they were out of the play.

Davis was already in the process of going to hit Strahan when Romo still had the ball. How is he supposed to watch Romo out of the corner of his eye to know whether to pull up?

Meanwhile, Strahan was allowed to hit Romo well after he threw a different pass without being flagged, maybe because he held his hands up afterward to try to claim he didn't do anything.

I do feel like we got raped on some calls, similar to last year. I even told my dad that I wouldn't be surprised if they called Newman for pass interference on Koren Robinson.

Watch the [;ay in its entirity....Strahan is guilty of illegal hands to the face BEFORE dAvis hit him on the ground.

When are you people going to start realizing it's not just "bad calls" by the refs, but intentional calls against the Cowboys, while blatant disregard for calls against the opponent.

Someone tell me how that blitz where the linebacker was literally tackled by the running back right in front of the ref wasn't holding?

I've heard the most atrocious reasons ever given by the refs to excuse the officiating, and it's getting really sickening.

This has been happening for years, through our supposed lack of talent, to our teams that are supposed to be one of the most talented in the league.

Through coaches who were supposedly morons, eg. Campo, to those who had some of the most disciplined in the league, eg. Parcells, until they got to the Cowboys.

Seriously, wake up.

I agree and it was the explanation by the reff that rally makes it worse. Hitting a guy not involved in the play? Every game, almost every series, when a d lineman goes down while rushing the passer the o lineman dives on top of him so he can't get up to go sack his QB. NEVER EVER seen it called in a game. EVER.

A guy not involved in the play????? Let's see.........Romo is the QB, Davis is the OL and Strahan is the DE making a lame attempt to get at Romo. How he isn't part of the play is beyond me.

The call SUCKED.

Same thing I thought.

Well one thing is for sure...
That referee crew has done it's last game in the playoffs.

Marginal calls should not determine the game.

Every referee knows that.

thought the refs were terrible. i have watched the ware "offsides" 5 times, no way in hell he is offsides. no call there and no 1st TD by the Giants. Also thought the intentional grounding on romo was piss poor. yes he was in the pocket but you are allowed the throw the ball away unless it is to avoid a sack... he was not in jeopardy of a sack.

I just wish the game could have been decided by the players.

When the zebras are THAT involved, in either direction, you know someone's not getting a fair shake.

The intentional grounding, the offsides, and this call were huge plays in the game. The refs took over in this game, while in other playoff games, they let the players play.
