After the cowboys beat the steelers in superbowl 30, I predicted the cowboys would win superbowl 50, I'd turn 44 shortly after (I turn 44 tomorrow ) and then I'd die.

I am so glad the cowboys weren't in the superbowl today.

that's funny, I made a similar prediction to my buddy telling him we had to go to SBXXX because its the last chance we'll get to see the Boys in the SB in jerris lifetime and perhaps our own.

I'm sure glad we went

I'm just thankful I got to experience the Cowboys winning the SB 5 times once in person at SB XXVII. The first Cowboys game I ever watched was SB VI. I couldn't have picked a better time to become a Cowboys fan than when I did. I got to experience all the winning in the 70's with Roger Staubach at the helm and during the 90's with the triplets. Went through a very dark discouraging period with the team from 1986 to 1990. Things were looking pretty hopeless during those years so that experience helps me keep the faith but the championship drought the Cowboys are going through currently is the longest in their history. From the Cowboys inception in 1960 starting as a rock bottom expansion team it only took 11 years for the team to win their first world championship. It's been 20 years since the Cowboys got past the second round of the playoffs and have only had 4 playoff wins over that period.

Jerry should feel embarrassed the team has had that little success the past 2 decades but it hasn't hurt him financially and that appears to be what's most important to him. If you're a fan who wasn't born yet or didn't start following the Cowboys until after the teams 5th SB win you missed the most fun you may ever have as a Cowboys fan. I only wish the Internet was around back then and we had boards like this to celebrate all the great wins and championships the team had. I remember those days like they were yesterday the highlights of those great games brings back all the memories and feelings I felt at the time. If you didn't live those games as they were happening you'll never experience what those of us who did feel every time we watch them.

I lived the moment as Staubach unleashed the Hail Mary to Drew Pearson. I remember jumping on my bike immediately after that game popping wheelie's down the street I was so happy. Those were the days when the Cowboys making the playoffs was a formality every year. We have no choice nowadays but to live in the past with the Cowboys and unless you've been following the team since at least the 95 season you won't have many good memories to look back to.

A fine post, my experience and thoughts almost to a tee.

My first ever NFL game was Super Bowl 5 and i felt bad for the losers so i made them my favorite team.

How could i possibly know that the whimsical decision of a not yet teenage boy would start me on a journey filled with so much, excitement, passion, pride, memories, and friendships.

Glad you are still with us...and props to you going into the service at the age you did and sticking with it.

I remember in the picture thread some 10 years ago and you were sawing trees down and you looked like someone who could handle their self .

You're drifting on thin ice there buddy. Just because one didn't work out doesn't mean the other won't! :omg:

Hahahaha I remember that. That was a looong time ago but I'm in much better shape than back then. I was 270 before joining the army. I'm abut 200 now. Was 185 when I was in Afghanistan (about a year ago).

But then I got nerve dmg in my arm couldn't lift weights anymore (and used it as an excuse to do nothing).

Going to start it back up again on Monday.
