I been thinking of various ways to fast track this team to reach the big dance, and come up with an schematic of sorts..a template that's proven. What if we go bold..meaning..draft a tightend at 19(arguably the best since Gronk)..then focus on defense heavily for the remainder of the draft? Not only does this scenario give the offense a major offensive threat..ie Gronk...but we give Marinelli and Richard the tools they need to be great. I'm talking about the old school defensive schematic that the 2001 Ravens employed. At 50 I would go get Josey Jewell ...YES... that's early..but I feel we could plug him in and play him day 1. I need ideas guys..for 50 onward. I'm spit balling, but the more I think about it and watch the tape..I LOVE GOEDERT coupled with Witten. I think Rico may end up a practice squad warrior...a pipe dream. HOPE IM WRONG. If we upgrad the TE position with Dallas Goedert..it makes this offense unpredictable and free's up Zeke big time. It spreads out the field...and I am of the opinion receiver is not that big of a need. What do you all think?Give me some names that we could draft in the middle rounds defensively.

If OJ Howard was in this draft I'd say sure...unfortunately there is no one close to his level to warrant a top 20 selection, let alone a 1st round pick.

Hard pass.

I hear you. Just throwin it out for consumption. Goedert sure looks the part though. Ian Thomas in round 4 would be nice too.

I think Goedert has solid ball skills and a good catch radius, but he looks like a pretty limited athlete...certainly not a 1st rounder and I'd be hesitant to take him in the 2nd.

I LOVE Thomas and think he'd be a great option if he's available in the 4th.

Thomas reminds me of another Thomas named Julius. hopefully WITHOUT the injury issues. Freaky athletic and just catches the rock. He is a coverage match up nightmare. Goedert can be as well.

I have to disagree with drafting a TE in at least the 1st two rounds.

Currently our offense is confined to a 20 yd box around LOS. That's like playing inside the redzone all the time with the D using endzone as extra defender because we have NOBODY who can get behind the D so they squeeze the box. Adding another TE in the route tree simple congest that box even further.
We need a WR who has good speed who can get behind the D once or twice per game to keep D from choking our O. By a good WR I mean someone with good FOOTBALL speed and actually can track deep throws to make D pay. I hate players with great 40 time but slow football speed.

Now that Dez is finally gone we need to get us an elite wr . I don't see the front office drafting any other position with the first round pick. In the later rounds We all know this is probably Jason's last year so we will actually address that as well in the later rounds.
