Hey Everyone,

I just purchased a Linksys Wireless G with Speed Booster.

Since installing it, I noticed my internet is running really sluggish.

I went to their support site and noticed others are having similar problems.

I think I'm going to return it, but wanted to know if anyone out there can recommend a Good router.

I have a desktop (direct connect) and laptop (wireless connections).

What do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I'm currently using the same one right now with no problems. Use the 800 # for tech support, they may need to reconfigure your IP #

My friends ask me this all of the time. Everyone is getting a wireless setup at home. I always tell them they can't go wrong w/ NetGear.

Just my opinion.

I have always used Linksys and never had any major problems that I didn't create.

Google DDWRT, OpenWRT, or Tomato (gotta be capitalized). See if your router is eligible. Of course, if you're not comfortable flashing the router (never done it before, don't want to risk killing it)... don't.

If you just want wireless.....get a Airport.....they work great IMHO

They are expensive tho compared to others...

I tried several at home and at work.....dlinks....netgear...etc......found that the airport was the most reliable.

Just my two cents.

I have heard Black and Decker make a pretty good router.

Oh wait, you mean computer not wood.:D

I have not had trouble with my lynksis either...I think most of the time people have trouble with it, it is a user error or ID Ten T error.:D

But if it doesn't work for you I have also, like Dallas, have heard good things about net gear.

I have a linksys and it works great... both at home and work...

I also have a lot of experience with Netgear with good results. Everything I have used from D-Link ends up getting replaced...

Thanks fellas for your input.

I've upgraded RR to Turbo. I will see how that works.

Thanks again.

I was told it's neither of those, it's more than likely a short between the keyboard and my chair.  :D

A loose nut behind the keyboard?

I had all kinds of trouble with a linksys wireless router a while ago. Most of it was caused by interference from cordless phone frequencies. Try switching channels before you return it.

I've got a d-link router and my biggest issues are resetting the signal. But that's minor to me since it only occurs when my cordless phone signals get out of whack.

Unfortunately my d-link router has been phased out and is no longer supported, so I've been debating getting another one.

If it's still working with minimal problems, is it really necessary to get another router?

Also with the linksys routers be sure to upgrade the firmware. It usually fixes weird annoying problems.

Piggy-backing on my own question. I decided to go ahead and get AT&T's wireless gateway. I have AT&T DSL and I basically get it free, cuz it came with a rebate.

I imagine I'll get the rebate check in 6 mos.
