Whats everyone's take on Roy's performance yesterday?

I saw the nice int but then I saw some pretty poor plays on his part.

He got juked in the backfield by Taylor on the short TD run.
When blitzing once he was completely neutralized by a rookie RB.
The late hit on Leftwich kept a drive alive I believe(?).

He finished with 2 tackles and 1 assist.

The hit on Leftwich wasn't late, they flagged him for leading with the head, which is BS. I thought it was a good form tackle.

Seemed good in coverage. None of the Jags WR had much seperation on the Dallas CB's, except for a couple of short passes against Henry. Didn't play close to the line of scrimmage very much....definitely not even close to as much as Polamalu played against the Dolphins.

The late hit was a killer. I could live with the RB blocking him on the blitz once, it happens to the best of safeties. He played Taylor correctly, since Taylor isn't a "bounce out" type of back. Tough making a tackle on a 235 pound tailback.

Overall, I was more disappointed in how he was used than how he played. I thought he played okay, but was too far from the line of scrimmage too often. Probably because Parcells was in fear of Watkins inexperience and Jacksonville started passing the ball with success and weren't running the ball that well, so they figured they'd drop more back in coverage. Unfortunately, I think they would've been better off blitzing more and making Leftwich force things.

I agree, but the refs seem inclined to make that call on Roy even in border- line situations.

That call was a bunch of crap.. And it costs us 3 points.. Ridiculous..

Roy had a great game.. Very nice int and a great pass breakup.. Fred Taylor just made a nice juke at the last second on that one play..

I just wish we would have blitzed him more.. Aikman even said that he is one of the best blitzers in the league..

He was good and bad. The INT was good, he made some other good plays. The hit he got called for was leading with the helmet which he did do and as we saw apologized for it also. Parcells was supposed to open the game up for him. As Vincent Laguardia Gambini says. "You win some, you lose some." I expect him to play better overall next week.

Roy definitely led w/ the helmet, no idea why he continues to make those types of plays. One of these days, if he keeps it up, he'll be on a stretcher.

Exactly right. It was dumb AND dangerous play. The worst part is that he doesn't need to do that because he's a terrific hitter.

dumb DUMB penalty that was a momentum swing

one nice play on the INT (bledsoe-like poorly/STUPIDLY thrown ball)

beaten like a rented mule on his "blitz".

not very effective really for what we're paying him.

It amazes me that Roy Williams is one of the guys who always seems to have his play disected - only for the answer to be that he didn't play that well.

Roy Williams was good yesterday. He certainly was not the reason this team lost the game.

i'm pretty sure you're not allowed to lead with the crown of your helmet- not sure why its being called a BS penalty (other than to defend RW at all costs. its ok- most fans of all teams do it).

and roy did whiff on that taylor run.

its one of those games where he may have otherwise played well, but critics will always point to a couple of negative plays like that.
