Roy Williams now has three seasons (out of four) with at least two sacks and at least two interceptions in the same year. That's as many as Brian Dawkins has in his 10-year career and more than any other current NFL safety except Rodney Harrison (who has seven in 12 seasons but did it only once in his first four seasons).

Roy has played well this season. It appears the team is allowing him to play more to his strengths (near the line of scrimmage) and less to his weaknesses (deep coverage responsibilities) but whatever is happening I hope things continue to go well for Roy.

Yeah, Adam, but the guy is like wayyyy overrated. [/sarcasm]

Great tidbit there. Roy was all over the field last night.

I agree...but he still hasn't been quite the playmaker he was in his rookie year...or so it seems.

Agreed.

I think so much of it has to do with playing with a safety that season who really could cover. The more we get away from Woody the more I realize what a special athlete he was. For a safety to be able to cover a slot receiver adequately (not too mention a tight-end) is as we have found out the two seasons--- not something to be taken lightly.

I hope in the offseason we come up with a legit free safety. Even a "Brock Marion" type would suffice.

Adam, I have great respect for you and think you are the most knowledgable poster on any of these sites when it comes to stats, cap, etc., but surely you jest about Roy. We all know that he can't cover and that he is one dimensional.
(smile).

I always appreciate it when Adam posts these tidbits of information, they are very helpful and the average fan doesn't have access to them normally. Thanks Adam

Good point.

Woodson was Reed and Roy rolled into one...smart too.

When Roy can freelance, no one is better.

Here's another fact - Roy made this year's probowl and next year's probowl with that pick. MNF exposure is huge.

By the way, Darren Woodson did it only once in his career (1996). So did Ronnie Lott.
