Can anyone imagine a defense that has Reed playing FS and Williams playing SS?

This man is the only big time safety who not only didnt have an experienced safety beside him but also didnt have a scheme that would best use his talents.
Yet, he still makes the pro bowl, gets voted in by his peers, coaches, fans and still led all safeties in takeaways last year. He is different than any safety the nfl has ever seen.
There has never been a safety with the combination of speed and hitting ability while not even having a real athletic body. People say he is slow but i have seen him catch many players from behind who are supposedly fast. And he is a huge playmaker. In all honesty he should have had 8 pics last year. He dropped a gift against the skins in Washington, then a drop against the lions another gift, and the pic for a td against the lions and that bogus unnecessary roughness.
I just get tired of people talking bad about him. I was one of the people who guaranteed 100 percent that Romo would be good when everyone on here was talking about how we should draft a qb this year. Turns out i was right.
Well i have another 100 percent guarantee that is even more of a no brainer than Romo being a good qb.
Roy Williams will win DPOY!
So when i come back come January bragging about how i was right again just like i was with Romo dont call me a bad sport.![]()

Scratch that.
I'll take two.
If you were to add Ed Reed to the 2007 Dallas Cowboys Defense, there would would be no doubt in mind that we would have the #1 unit in the entire NFL.HeavyHitta31;1529703 said:Can anyone imagine a defense that has Reed playing FS and Williams playing SS?![]()

Stautner;1529704 said:Wow, talk about a mindless rant.
I suppose I could first talk about how there are no guarantees of anything in the NFL, much less Roy being DPOY.
Then I could mention how Romo's star still isn't etched in stone, so neither is your prediction about Romo ........ and even so, you are suffering from a severe deficiency in logic if you think being right about one thing means you are right about everything.
I could move on and mention how guys like Ronnie Lott and others shouldn't be so easily dismissed as lessor players thatn Williams .......
or that with Cliff Harris and Darren Woodsen as former players it's not even that easy to claim Williams is the best Coboy safety of all time, much less the best in NFL history.
HeavyHitta31;1529685 said:Roy Williams IS a great player, as he has forced more turnovers than any defensive player in football over the last 5 seasons, including Ed Reed. However, he is not even the best overall player on his own defense, let alone the best all-time. He will never be the overall players that Woody or Cliff Harris were.
HeavyHitta31;1529696 said:In terms of big plays, Roy is just as good as Reed. Reed has forced or recovered 31 INTs and fumbles in his 5 year career, while Roy has forced or recovered 32 INTs and fumbles in his 5 year career (which leads the NFL in that time).
Roy is not the player in coverage that Reed is, but to say reed is so far ahead of Roy it isnt worth talking about is foolish

stilltheguru;1529712 said:I didnt say i was right about everything but when i know i am gonna be right about something that i see on the verge of happening im gonna let it be known.
The only thing that could stop this from happening is a severe injury to a key defensive player. If we stay relatively healthy, Roy included. We will be fine.
Alot of us Cowboy fans remind me of how Yankee fans treat Alex Rodriguez. Just ungrateful. But all the hate im sure Roy hears is just going to fuel the fire just like its doing with A-Rod so keep the hate coming.
stilltheguru;1529679 said:I just made this thread because i have been lurking the past few months and i keep seeing threads talking bad about Roy and i cant believe i watch the same games other people do.
But yea i will keep reminding people about his push for DPOY after every game.
GET READY BOYS!
If you thought Roy was a beast as a rookie.Just wait.
Roy has always been my fav player but i have never had the feeling he would be DPOY. He will win it this year easily!
Stautner;1529732 said:"We will be fine" is a far cry from "Roy will win DPOY!" or "the best safety of all time!".
Blind homerism is not the mark of a bright guy.
Sure Roy could do very well, but you are going way overboard here.
And, by the way, there are plenty of things that can go wrong besides an injury to a key player.

What are you counting? Interceptions, forced fumbles and....?
Ed Reed has 27 INTs and 5 FF in the last 5 years.
Roy has 17 INT and 9 FF in the last 5 years.
By those counts, Reed has more interceptions than Roy has total turnovers. Even if you count fumbles recovered, Roy still doesn't lead Reed. Reed has a few punts blocked in his career as well.
Using those three categories, Bailey leads Roy by 2 overall as well.
Those were the only players I checked. Maybe I'm missing something.

9 forced fumbles and 17 INTS is not 32. 9 forced fumbles, 7 FR and 17 INTS is 33, but that falls short of Reed (5 FF, 3 FR, 27 INTS)

nyc;1529755 said:Just an FYI since people haven't figured it out. Ed Reed is a Free Safety and Roy Williams is a Strong Safety. Reed (a FS) is more likely to have INTs than Williams (a SS), and Williams (a SS)is more likely to have forced fumbles than a Reed (a FS)
because he plays closer to the line of scrimage. The arguement is like comparing a offensive tackle to a offensive guard. They both play the offensive line, but they have different job duties overall. An offensive tackle is more likely to give up sacks than a guard because they play in space. If you are going to argue players; at least make sure they play the same position!
stilltheguru;1529744 said:Guru=Far from a homer. I am probrably the most non-homerish person on this site.
I just know when i see something great coming. Its mainly going to be because of Ken Hamlin. If we didnt have him i wouldnt be saying this but Roy does need somebody to tell him where to go. Hes like a animal. Hes not going to be your study all the time know exactly where to be type player. Roy is a show me what to do and im going to bury whoever is in my way. Hamlin will get roy where he needs to be and i finally wont hear all of Roys little mini me's getting all this attention.
