Roy Williams must NOT have two sub-par games in a row

Re-watching the Giants game - twice - I set my eyes on Roy Williams. I hate to admit it but Jeremy Shockey and Tiki Barber really took it to him. Perhaps it was because Roy had to account for two great players and ended up getting frozen in between them? Nonetheless, their two playmakers beat our SS handily, and we can't have that repeat performance against the Saints.

Against the Giants, there were several plays where Roy Williams was assigned to cover Shockey, and Shockey put the moves on him ALMOST EVERY TIME to get open and catch the completed pass. And there were other plays also, one in the first half where Roy FLAT OUT MISSED Tiki, ran past him in the backfield and then Tiki sprung it for a long game. And the Giants last scoring drive - the one where they tied the game - was helped by a few long runs by Tiki where Roy was juke-moved out of the play or slow to get to the tackle. In fact, Roy was SLOW TO GET TO the RB-tackle most of the game. That simply can't happen against Reggie Bush if we intend to beat the Saints. Bush is much faster than Tiki, so Roy Williams really needs to turn up his concentration, speed, and overall reaction time.

Roy Williams simply needs to bring his "A" game against hte Saints because the "D+" game he brought against the Giants had a big hand in letting them stay close to us and possibly beat us. I just hope Roy won't have to worry about TE's in the Saints game because he'll have his hands full covering Bush as both a runner and a receiver. Roy Williams must NOT have two sub-par games in a row.

Man, RW had a bad game, JJ can't run to daylight, no pass rush.....

Reading your posts, I feel like the Boys lost!

We'll be playing zone most of the time...there's no way we want Roy or any of our safeties in man coverage against Bush...no way.

We are going to beat them soundly...I believe they are capable of hanging 21-24 points on our defense on their best day, but I think we are capable of hanging 30 or more on them on our best day.

This game won't be nearly as tough as the Giants' game unless we play poorly, making mistakes that help them out. The Saints' defense is in really bad shape.

Roy, Romo, Julius, whoever plays opposite Ware, Bradie James, Keith Davis.

Pick one.

they can't have two sub-par games in a row.

but unfortunately it isnt incorrect
yes it is.. i just don't have the time to break it down cause i'm at work..

I do know this: Tiki had 90 yards rushing on 23 carries.. Shockey had 65 yards on 6 catches.. neither of those are amazing stats.. and I could have sworn there were 10 other guys on our team.. Maybe I'm wrong..

Everyone gets juked...

It's not like Roy whiffed on Tom Brady or anything. Tiki has made a lot of people miss.

What else is new?

20 of Tiki's yards came on a direct snap that caught our whole defense napping. Shockey catches a 30 yarder where James failed on a blitz and Davis' amazing ball skills helped him get within ten yards of Shockey when he caught the TD, while Roy was on the other side of the field, and Jacobs gets a big screen that fooled the entire defense while Roy had no shot at him, IIRC - but guess who is to blame?

That's right.

Roy did miss some tackles, but he also made some good plays as well. In fact, if he isn't playing deep on that Brandon Jacobs screen, Jacobs runs for a TD after he split nearly half the defense.

Roy made the tackle after a long gain.... the Giants wound up only getting 3 points out of that rather than 7 if he hadn't made that tackle.

Most people that write up player assessments (i.e. GRIZZ) will include some GOOD points along with the miscues the player does... that way it isn't so obvious that all you're doing is pointing out the bad.

Attention Cowboys players, if you play for this team you better not have one bad game or you will be labeled a "bust" by some Cowboys fans you better be Superman, and leap tall buildings in a single bound.

We're all human everyone of us is due a bad day every so often and what makes you think he'll have another "sub-par" game.

how many strong safeties in the nfl could cover tiki or shockey one on one? the answer is none. if he could cover them he would be a cb, not a safety
