Re-watching the Giants game - twice - I set my eyes on Roy Williams. I hate to admit it but Jeremy Shockey and Tiki Barber really took it to him. Perhaps it was because Roy had to account for two great players and ended up getting frozen in between them? Nonetheless, their two playmakers beat our SS handily, and we can't have that repeat performance against the Saints.
Against the Giants, there were several plays where Roy Williams was assigned to cover Shockey, and Shockey put the moves on him ALMOST EVERY TIME to get open and catch the completed pass. And there were other plays also, one in the first half where Roy FLAT OUT MISSED Tiki, ran past him in the backfield and then Tiki sprung it for a long game. And the Giants last scoring drive - the one where they tied the game - was helped by a few long runs by Tiki where Roy was juke-moved out of the play or slow to get to the tackle. In fact, Roy was SLOW TO GET TO the RB-tackle most of the game. That simply can't happen against Reggie Bush if we intend to beat the Saints. Bush is much faster than Tiki, so Roy Williams really needs to turn up his concentration, speed, and overall reaction time.
Roy Williams simply needs to bring his "A" game against hte Saints because the "D+" game he brought against the Giants had a big hand in letting them stay close to us and possibly beat us. I just hope Roy won't have to worry about TE's in the Saints game because he'll have his hands full covering Bush as both a runner and a receiver. Roy Williams must NOT have two sub-par games in a row.
