Roy Williams to visit Cincinnati

Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports Todd Archer that safety Roy Williams is in Cincinnati, visiting with the Bengals and possibly rejoining defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

According to Williams' agent, Jordan Woy, Williams has already turned down one offer and he has two more potential visits.

Scheduled to count $6.6 million against the salary cap this season, the Cowboys released Williams, who was named to the Pro Bowl five times in his first seven seasons, and signed free agent Gerald Sensabaugh to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million.

I thought the Bengals ran a variation of the 3-4 or did they switch when Zimmer came in and did his damage?

The Bengals play Pittsburgh twice a year and they love to go 4 and 5 wide all the time, it will be painful to watch them expose Roy.

Good for Roy. I hope he lands on his feet...I was a huge fan when he was really "Roy Williams"! Maybe Zim (and the fact he's unemployed) can help him regain some of his lost fire.

As I posted in the other thread about this, the Bengals is where I thought RW would land all along.

I also think Ellis could end up there via trade if the Bengals dont draft a pass rusher with their 1st pick.

I wonder what team he rejected? Perhaps another 3-4?

Zimmer said something like "I want to see if Roy is the same player he was.... I haven't worked with him for a few years now" - odd thing to say since a visit with the player isn't really going to tell you that.

I'd guess that some team offered him a small one year deal that "didn't make sense for his family"

Too bad for him. We were terrible when he came here when he was at his best.

I hope the best for Roy.
Zimmer doing ok. Allowed the same amount of points as Cowboys did last year.

I can't believe this doofus is rejecting contract offers. Almost anyone else wouldn't be in the league as of last year.

He probably had a good reason like he was going on a cruise during their OTAs

I wonder if Roy and Zimmer "occupied & engaged" each other when Roy arrived at Bengals headquarters.

Well, Jermaine Phillips will be playing LB in Tampa, so that might not be out of the question for Roy.
