I must say, I was impressed with him last night. He and Finnegan (a very good and physical CB) were challenging each other and while he only have 5 catches for 36 yards, many of them were 1st down conversions. A possession receivers job is to move the chains and thats what he did. His deep threat / jump ball ability is just a bonus. Especially in the end zone.

For Roy to get the job done against Finnegan when he needed too is a very good sign of what Roy can bring to the table. Granted, he is no TO in being a super explosive threat, but if he moves the chains when the Cowboys need him too, that can only mean good things to come.

I thought he played well...but he needs to average more than 7 ypc to be effective. And he ran a hideous route on that ball that almost got picked off and returned.

He will have more than 7ypc. He had those because he was running the chains to convert. He was very effective last night even at 7ypc. I think he had at least 3 1st conversions. 3 of 5 move the chains is a damn good ratio.

He definitly looks more determined that I've ever seen him play.

I don't think Roy has the speed to be a true deep threat.

But what I liked last night was how he competed. Everything he did, he did with a lot of effort and competitiveness. That's what I wanted see ... some "want to."

He'll do that when plays are called for him to go downfield. We haven't gone downfield yet this year and I'm sure that's by design by JG. No need to show everything right now.... RW11 is gonna be BIG for our O.....

I agree though he deep threat is from his ability to screen DBs and his height and going up for a jump ball.

He played a good game. The only problem is we didn't get him to be a possesion receiver. If we needed a true possesion WR we could've bought one much cheaper. We brought RW here to be our #1 so the standard he gets measured by should be much higher.

I agree, he played very well last night, and if Romo would've kept that ball in play he'd of had a TD last night too, as he had great position on the cb on that one. I'm officially excited about the Romo-Williams combo.

He played well, made some tough catches. I am concerned though as he doesn't appear to get to much separation....

Neither did Irvin but he did just fine. RW11 is big and physical and uses his body very well.... It's not all about speed and Irvin was proof of that..

no, that throw was on Romo, too late throwing it. Romo has to throw that ball before Williams makes his break.

It's preseason, they aren't opening up the playbook and as long as his catches moves the chains, that's all this offense needs. You seen exactly what this offense needed to be for the last three years, ball control, clock control, run and play action game on offense

His YPC did look like a tight end, but that doesn't tell the whole story.
Irvin was the master of third downs and clutch situations.
If Roy comes close to that, I'm satisfied.

I love how people go from "OMG why is every pass play Garrett calls a deep progression first? It wouldn't kill him to call some short plays to keep the defense honest!" to "Roy Williams sucks! 7 YPC! Nevermind that our starting offense dominated the time of possession!"

no matter how good or bad the WRs are-it was refreshing to watch the 'Boys w/o TO

Kitna needs to teach Romo how to throw a fade. Romo overthrows them all the time.

kitna missed Miles Austin on an easy TD.......
so did Romo. Romo also overthrew Roy on a fade. Kitna hit Olgetree on one though.
