Don't usually like many rule changes. But I do like this extended extra point.

Anyways I was playing madden and they said how rare safeties are. Which is true. They should be worth at least 4 points maybe 5 to really offset the offense plan to catch up. All the rules lately seem to totally favor the offense. Why not help the defense out?

Maybe a dumb question but I feel it's a good topic. What do you guys and gals think?

Wish I could make this a poll question.

Make them 6pts + conversion - same as TD.

Naw because some safeties happen because of a lose ball. Maybe 4 points if the defense tackle the ball carrier or qb in the end zone. 2 points for everything else that results in a safety.

If the safety points were raised across the boarding , the defense wouldnt try and get a defensive td since they would get the ball back.

How about if we move kickoffs back to where they used to be move extra points back to where they used to be

This allows me to get a sandwich and refresh my drink immediately after the touchdown

Agree with kickoffs but not extra points. Kickoffs are a time to not watch now.

Safeties are fine at two points, you get two points and possession back in a free kick(punt)

That's the part the OP is missing. On all other scores, the other team gets the next possession. On a safety, you get two points AND you get the ball, usually in pretty good field position because of the free kick. That's huge.

Reminder: Kickoffs were moved back to get more touchbacks to lessen the times a player could get hurt returning kickoff.

Missing extra points, as they have been hardly makes the game more interesting. They ought to try concentrating on not throwing a flag every two plays and stop with the 200 commercials by halftime.

Moving extra points back and other rule changes are one thing. Changing scoring in your sport is totally different.

I want 7 teams in the playoffs. I believe only the top seed in each conference deserves a bye. So, have the other 3 division winners play the 3 wild card teams in each conference. 3 saturday games, 3 sunday games. The 3 winners join the top seed in the divisional round. The top seed plays the lowest ranked winner of wild card round. The highest ranked winner of wild card round hosts the other winner.

Also, all 60+ yd fgs worth 4 pts. I know it seems gimmicky, but so was thd 3pt line in the nba, now its a staple. Very few 60 yd fgs are even attempted, as most teams punt. Maybe a adding 1 pt. to the value may persuade teams to risk it. I can definitely see games in denver having such attempts.

Chop blocks should not only be 15 yds, but also loss of down. You want it gone for good, really hurt the offense.

A safety is a potential 18 point swing ( max). Gives the defending team two points. Amounts to a TO, taking the potential for 8 points on the drive away from the offense and gives the ball to the defending team, giving them the potential for 8 points
