I asked in the game thread but didn't see a response.

After the penalty for celebrating, if Dallas would have kicked the ball out of bounds would the Titans have gotten it at the 40 like a normal out of bounds kick or do they get the additional 15 yards added?

Is this penalty marked off from the kicking spot is what I am asking I guess.

If Dallas (or any team really) would only be giving the ball at the 40, it seems like this would be the smart move in situations where you are backed up 15 yards before the kick.

20 yard returns are common on normal kicks. Start 15 yards further back and at best you can only hope to stop them around the 35.

Seems like something teams should look at.

I believe the penalty is you get the ball 30 yards from the line where the ball was originally kicked.

So TN would've gotten the ball at the Dallas 45.

from NFL rulebook

When a kickoff goes out of bounds between the goal lines without being touched by the receiving team, the ball belongs to the receivers 30 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot unless the ball went out-of-bounds the first time an onside kick was attempted. In this case, the kicking team is penalized five yards and the ball must be kicked again. If the ball is kicked from the 15 yard line Alan Ball should not be allowed on coverage of such kick.

Yes, Dallas 45. My opinion they should have had Buehler to line drive the kick between the two returners and hope to dribble the ball through to the endzone.
