I don't know Dakota. Bailing on a 6 year deal after year two with a 13 million dollar signing bonus leaves you with a 8.6 million dollar cap hit on the remainder of the prorated portion of the bonus alone. I'm wondering if the 3rd year has a hefty roster bonus. One thing that IS interesting is that it seems his base salary goes up exponentially in the 3rd year (at least that's what I'm guessing). That is the very year that Jones is predicting will be uncapped if the owners opt out of the current CBA. It could be a gamble that Jerry is willing to take to keep this team in general (and o-line specifically) intact to make a run at the Super Bowl. Jerry has learned that the window of opportunity in the NFL is typically small. Two straight years of play-off qualification have netted ZERO results and Jones realizes this team may not have five years to get to the big dance. He may figure, at this point, the risk is worth the potential reward. If, however, another CBA is reached and the salary cap is kept intact, the Flozell Adams contract could come back to bite us very hard when/if his level of play or health begin a rapid decline.
