No idea when they will be filed but apparently one of the reasons for the stall is that the case is being sent to the State DA's Office, not just the local courts.

Wow.

I hope he didn't do it, but if he did, what a fall from grace.

I suspected things had taken a turn for the worse when the Steelers told suddenly told Ben to stay at home for the voluntary workouts after they had previously said he would attend just a week before.

Milledgeville police will soon send Roethlisberger case to prosecutor
Posted by Mike Florio on April 1, 2010 5:15 PM ET
Four weeks after an alleged incident of sexual assault, police in Milledgeville, Georgia soon will present the case involving Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to the local district attorney, according to WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh.

The prosecutor, as explained in our latest PFTV segment, will then consider whether there's enough evidence to justify the filing of charges.

The decision won't depend on whether the prosecutor thinks Ben is guilty. The question is whether the prosecutor thinks that a conviction can be obtained under the very high standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

In this regard, the prosecutor has considerable discretion. And if that discretion is exercised in favor of pursuing charges, Roethlisberger's life will be turned upside down -- regardless of whether he ultimately is found guilty.

When they were requesting a DNA sample, and then all of a sudden rescinded their request, I knew more was coming.

Could still end in nothing.

He should be spending his free time reading the playbook not forcing himself on women. Trade him.

Just don't understand how **** like this can even happen.

Ben Roethlisberger is a GOD in Pittsburgh. He could easily walk into ANY BAR and say "which hot chicks want to **** me" and he'd get a damned line of them waiting their turn.

I just don't understand why someone like him would ever need to rape a chick, like he can't get it any time he wants...

Anyhow. If it's true.. then LOL At Steelers doing anything for a few years.

He better at least get a 4 game suspension...

Glad I never did anything like that when I was drunk.

I never would have. But still...

Quite the opposite from what I understand. People that I know that live in/around Pittsburgh actually don't like him at all - they think he's a punk.

I agree. The past few articles I've read about Ben, the reporters have been going hard at Ben.

Even if no charges are filed, his standing in the community will be lower than piss poor.

The police do not determine quilt. They collect evidence and turn it over to the DA who then decides if charges should be pressed. It may end in nothing or it may go to trial. Either way I think there should be some sort of punishment from the NFL.

My in laws are huge steeler fans in PA and can't STAND the guy....didn't like him BEFORE this happened. Now? He probably has played his last game if charged and definately so if convicted. Dan Rooney doesn't roll that way.

Maybe selfish, but I hate the Steelers and hope they fall apart. Imagine if both Holmes and 'berger cant play this year, Dennis Dixon as starting QB Hines Ward as only credible target. LOL
