RUMOR: Cowboy going after Jamal Lewis?

Actually, I've feared the Eagles getting him. He's an absolute stud when he's healthy.

I wouldn't be suprised, and esp. in the light of Reid proclaiming that he wants to run the ball more

they have the means and opportunity

Why do folks continually buy rumors about us going after bad character players. Didn't last year's draft convince you? We passed on Merriman, passed on Odell Thurman and picked guys at the same positions over them.

a better question would be, why do people buy rumors about trading for a player when we're already stocked at the position, full of young talent?

With a back like Lewis, Parcells really could play 60% run-40% pass ball like I think he'd like to. Bledsoe would be much more effective because we'd have a true running game. I love Julius, but he hasn't proven he can stay on the field long enough to truly count on.

Now all that said, I see about a 2% chance that we'd actually get him.

we 1st would need to shore up the Oline, the Baltimore Oline fell apart this year, and Lewis struggled, that and he wasn't able to get into a rythm because of reduced carries and health being an issue

Westbrook gets no respect. I think they should have fed him the ball more.

there's a reason the Eagles kept Correll Buckhalter around, Westbrook isn't built to take the pounding of toting the rock 25+ times a game

Neither is Marshall Faulk. Westbrook only has to carry about 15-20 times. Who is the back up, Moats? He is very similar and can carry it another 10-15 times as well. They can also utilize swing passes to utilize both players speed and elusiveness.

Here is why I find this rumor bogus...

Lewis made it no secret last season that he wasn't going to run hard because he didn't want to risk injury and miss out on the big payday...

Parcells doesn't like that type of player...

Stranger things have happened, but I find this HIGHLY unlikely...

Lewis may end up in Philly or Indy...

ok, but Philly likes having a big back, and since Reid says he's dedicated to running the football more, it makes sense that they will want to get another big back

No thanks to Lewis, not only is he a thug but he's past his prime just like Eddie George was

I never said I bought this rumor, merely was asking if anyone else had heard it.

regardless of your intention, I will slam you either way. it is my nature.

I actually see Lewis going to New England. Would be a great fit for him.
Edge going to Carolina or NYJ.
Alexander staying put.
DeShaun Foster to NYJ or Arizona.
I think the Colts will trade for a RB or try to move up to draft one.

I actually agree with the idea that Dallas will look hard to find a power back. I don't think it will be someone who has Lewis' price tag though. I think they will look for a more versatile kind of guy like Najeh Davenport or something - someone who could play some FB and do some running...

Lewis would get in just as much trouble in Dallas being that he has a drug problem. He's one of those guys that should just exit left and give up trying to have an NFL career. He's lost it, the NFL should help that process in trying to clean up its image. They could go one step farther by disbanding the Ravens and disallowing Univ of Miami players from being drafted.

Lewis is done. He had his one great year and has done NOTHING since. Not that he did that much before. What is it with people and losers/thugs/washed up wastes suddenly being the guy for the Boys?

Forget Lewis, get Greg Jones.

Make a trade with Jax. He'd be the answer at FB and short yardage and could step in at RB at any time. Look at his production last season when Taylor went down.

Lewis has four fewer years of tread on him than George does, but he's missed some time, too. If he's a bargain (and he should be) we should nab him. Dallas does not have a powerful runner, and splitting time with Barber, Thompson, and Jones would not only help preserve his body it would also provide clutch, quality insurance in case any of the other backs goes down (again).

If Dallas picked up Lewis one of those backs will be gone. I doubt Dallas keeps 4 HB on the team.

And why is Jax wanting to move him?

Oh yeah. They don't want to move him.

Great suggestion.

Would it kill to have a combination of Barber/Lewis replace Polite in the lineup? I think this is an offense that needs big plays frome the runnign game to put it over the top. Again IMO, the position Maurice Carthon ran successfully for so many years is going extinct.
