Rumor: Cowboys to pass on Jeanty

Few thoughts..

1. I'm not confident Jeanty will be there seeing how Henry and Barkley made a difference on their teams last year. There are 4-5 teams I can see drafting him earlier.
2. This could be smoke, if you remember how much Jones talked up Brooks last year only to see him go elsewhere. Could also explain why Jones hasn't been talking as much. Hard to believe you have a coaching staff getting back to running but not prioritizing the best back in the draft.
3. I think Jeanty would be the biggest splash selection the Cowboys could make and passing would be like passing on Jackson all over. However there may be a great OL or DL prospect there as well.

IMO if this true, then there's a chance they feel the same about the loaded DT position. They will use 12 to fill an opening starting position with limited depth in the draft ( think WR, Oline, LBer, CB IMO ) This article makes me think OLine or CB. Stephen Jones says he would hope any player drafted in top 12 will be with the team for at least 8-9 years.
I would hate Oline in the 1st.

Pre-draft rumors are 50/50. But if they haven't met with him yet then it sounds like they will not be drafting him in the first round. I do agree with this strategy. This is a deep RB class and I would take two RBs later and feel good about it.

I am coming around to passing on a DT in the first too, for the same reason. There are a lot of DTs in this draft and I can see taking one in the 2nd or even 3rd round and another in the 5th, maybe 2!. I feel that with 10 picks the Cowboys should be loading up on DTs, and RBs, and anyone in the first that looks like he will make an impact, and that includes Tyler Warren - and I never want to draft TEs in the first round.
I would also include LB as a major need.

I love Jeanty but there are so many nice rbs that id rather get an impact defensive player or wr then take an rb maybe third rd unless Hampton is there in the 2nd

Just look at what they just paid Lamb, I really think WR is in play.
If he's there, the pick will be McMillan. He has Dallas Cowboys written all over him. I guarantee Jerral Wayne loves him some McMillan.

Honestly, if he and Jeanty are both on the board, I'd say McMillan would be you BPA, and more value in the 1st.

You must of missed a lot. He's a top 3 player in this draft behind Hunter and maybe Carter. If he's there at 12 he's 100% the BPA and should be the pic. This team has only had true success with a great running game and never had a great running game with running back by committee or with a 5th rounder running the rock.\
It's not that straight forward. After the combine, there isn't much difference between Jeanty and Omarion Hampton. Jeanty put up big numbers in a non-power conference but looked pretty pedestrian against PSU. He's small and has a lot of miles on his legs in college. So, this isn't Saquon Barkley 2.0. Hampton is more powerful guy with plenty of speed.

I'd rather draft Jihad Campbell or that safety from South Carolina.

He also had a non power conference offensive line NOT blocking for him who were completely outmatched by Penn State. Jeanty still forced about 17 missed tackles and gained 100 yards.

People need to stop over thinking this. You take the highest rated player on your board. Period. Then move on to the next pick. Unless you can drop back and add picks. Which might be hard to do this year.
Regardless, Jeanty will most likely not be there at 12. The big fear is that they do something rash like trade up.

He had 30 carries. I watched the game and wasn't impressed. He's going to get beat up in the NFL.

Cowboys don't rank players 1-32. They have tiers. Some years they only have 18 players with first round grades. The team has so many gaping holes it would be hard to screw up pick 12 and not land a starter who significantly upgrades a position.

Maybe on your board he is top 3 and that's ok.

On others board, he might be behind some other players.

Not all boards are the same

All RBs get beat up in the NFL. Even Saquon has struggled to stay healthy. You don't have to explain how they run their draft. I'm well aware. As I stated, the only way to screw this up really is to trade up. But if he is there and he is atop of their board, you draft him. Simple. Or what's the point of having a board. I would rather he go before twelve. But I wouldn't be upset if he is the pick. Actually, given all their needs, I'm not sure I would be upset with anyone unless they are injured or if its a QB.

I re-watched him last night after having Golden ahead of him after that 4.3 speed, but T-Mac is a true #1 receiver, cannot say that with full confidence with any other receiver. I am fully on board with drafting him at 12 if somehow he falls.

Agree. IMO, one of the safest picks in this draft. He could contribute year 1. We draft him in round 1, then go get a RB in rounds 2 or 3, maybe 5.

I just think he gives Dak what he needs. Having McMillan on a rookie deal would also be good, imo.

Dude has some Megatron/Julio Jones to his game.

Also, improving the pass game potential will help the run game.
