This is from The Ranch, by a poster named Twizzla2k2. Not too sure how reliable he is (he has over 3800 posts), but here's what he posted...

Reported at the 30/30 Break that Miami has traded Josh McCown to Carolina, and either Dallas in interested in acquiring Ernest Wilford, or they already have, still waiting for a follow-up or confirmation on the Wilford to Dallas deal. But McCown is a Carolina Panther

The McCown deal did happen. I've heard nothing about Wilford... hell, I don't even know what the "30/30 Break" is. I figured it would be on this board by now, since it has over 40 replies there already.

Take it for what it's worth... this would certainly contradict what Jerry said last night about adding a vet WR.

I wish there was some truth to this...I welcome any and all Fork Union Academy guys.

...and he'd certainly be an upgrade over several of our current guys.

Wilford's job could be at risk in Miami

Wilford

The first time I spoke with Ernest Wilford after the Miami Dolphins signed him was on the red carpet of Jason Taylor's annual black-tie charity gala at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

There was curiosity about what role the Dolphins expected Wilford to play. Was he going to be the No. 1 receiver for a young team? Was Ted Ginn ready for that role? Would Wilford be the No. 2?

So after Wilford stopped for the paparazzi's flashbulbs and strolled toward the reporters in his tux, his wife attached to his arm, I asked what he envisioned this year.

"I'm here to do what's best for the organization," Wilford said. "If they label me No. 1 or No. 2, I don't care. I'm going to go there and try to make plays and help this organization win games."

Would you care if they wanted to label you No. 3, I joked.

"I can't never be No. 3," he said with a disdainful laugh.

Well, how about No. 4?

As Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post writes, Wilford heads into tonight's exhibition finale in a tenuous spot and might be in jeopardy of not making the 53-man roster.

The former Jacksonville Jaguar has only three receptions for 12 yards in the preseason and is listed on the depth chart as the second-string WR behind Ginn. Derek Hagan is the other starter.

But Wilford has one huge number in his favor: $6 million. That's how much guaranteed money the Dolphins gave him.

Volin reports Wilford has been brushing past reporters lately, so we don't know what's going through the veteran's mind. But Dolphins coach Tony Sparano has liked what he has seen from Wilford -- recently.

"He has practiced much better in the last 10 days," Sparano said. "It almost looks like he's got a little bit of a second wind right now. He's playing a little bit faster with more confidence."

Jerry isn't about to go public with man we gotta go get us a WR. Shows weakness and a need that would cost him. And I'm not certain he's desperate anyway. We all know he wants a premium WR. Who doesn't?

Is his contract $6 mil for the current year? Or is it guaranteed over two years. That would be a lot for us to shell out for a FA this year.

No.

Ernest Willford was given a $6 million dollar signing bonus when he signed with the Fish.

That is a large chunk of change to spend on a player and not take him to the regular season.

I think the 6 mil is the signing bonus the Fins shelled out, which means they'd have to eat that... but it also means they're probably gonna want a fairly significant return for him...

FWIW, I know Twizzla from the other board, he's a fellow draftaholic, and he's a "respectable" poster... IOW, he doesn't try to float crapola...

I'd be real happy if he's right about this, and curious as to the price tag...

Apparently, it's an AM radio station, 560 WQAM, in Miami...

He's almost 30 and statistically he has yet to have a season as good as Crayton did last year.

....hmmm on one hand...Wilford is slow and gets little to no separation but on the other hand he uses his body well to shield defenders and has good hands.

I will have to wait to see how it works out in Dallas but I am not overwhelmed by the potential signing
