Sorry if this is a re-post, but did you guys see this on si.com? Pretty interesting. He's still a pretty good coach, he just doesn't get support from ownership.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher's name has been thrown around as a possible replacement to Joe Gibbs in Washington or Bill Parcells in Dallas if either quits after the season. But the Titans hold an option on Fisher for 2007.

I hope the Eagles don't get him when they fire Reid. Fisher is a very good coach.

On GAC radio show about 2 weeks ago, Bill Stenoford told Galloway that he had heard rumors that Fisher was picked by Jerry to be the next coach of the Cowboys, and I think Stenoford said he got that rumor from the Internet, which means one should take it for what it is worth.

Never know.

Fisher is a great coach, if you can't see that, you're nuts. He isn't backed by good ownership and lately the ownership hasn't given him players that put him in a good spot to win.

I think he'd be a fine choice here in Dallas, but the way our team is pulling together lately, I'm praying Parcells sticks around for another year.

When he's had talent, his teams were perennial playoff contenders. Poor salary cap management, cost them some good players, and had him putting players on the field before they were quite ready and he's had to coach them up.

One thing I've read about him is that his players respect him and they always play hard for him. Seriously look at Tennessee this year. Anyone looking to play them on their schedule have automatically put W next to their name. And yet they've been able to steal some games, be in games they shouldn't (Indy) and just overall, they leave it on the field for him.

The 'boys could do worse, IMO.

My thoughts exactly. Parcells staying is my first hope. Fisher is my second.

Fisher isn't a 3-4 coach. Didn't Jones say he wants the Cowboys to remain a 3-4 team?

If this team comes together and finishes strong, I can't imagine any scenario where Parcells leaves EXCEPT a SB win. I doubt that's going to happen so I say he's at least 1 more year here.

He's a hardnosed coach who believes the best chance to win is to have a strong running game to augment a good defense. He would fit in well with the philosophies Parcells has instilled here if and when Tuna decides to retire.

Jeff Fisher- Career Record 97-85-0.

I don't think he's the answer.

Fisher has been a solid coach for years, but he did hitch a ride on Steve McNair's star. The same could be said about Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman or Chuck Knoll and Terry Bradshaw, but I think Fisher is a coupld of notches below these guys.

He impresses me with his ability to get the most out of his players and remain innovating despite not having the league-wide coaching connections that's typical of most successful coaches.

Parcells himself has publicly praised Fisher, calling the Tennessee org a bunch of "free agents" (implying they aren't connected with other coaching trees) "out there" quietly doing a very good job.

His not being a 3-4 coach is a valid concern, though this is mainly the province of the DC.

Yes but he could bring in a 3-4 defensive coordinator.
