I have a friend who has some inside stuff with the Cardinals. He tells me that they expect Kurt Warner to retire. They are already in full evaluation of what they need to do to turn the team over to Leinart. Even looking at OL schemes because he is a lefty and Warner right handed.

It sounded to this friend that barring a miracle of Favrian proportions that Warner has played his last game.

Good guy whom I have always liked.

I have like Warner also, he was very good QB with limited mobility.

And a new team opens up for Favre to court.

I'm not surprised. After that hit he took against the Saints, and then that beatdown, I pretty much figured he would decide to call it a day.

The guy is pure class and had one heck of a career. He's got nothing left to prove and can walk away with his head held high.

Good for Warner. He had an excellent career.

Anyway, that's one guy retired, with one more guy to go!

Is their consensus that Lienhart can be the guy, or are they also looking at other possible options to bring in and at least push him?

I'm very mixed on Leinart. Maybe his study habits have improved, his dedication to the game, etc., but I don't get the feeling he's a franchise QB.

Maybe I'm completely wrong . . . .

I don't know, but I bet they will hedge their bets on him by bringing in some to compete for the job.

Interesting.

I wonder if something were to happen come draft weekend or sooner in philly with mcnabb if arizona could be the landing spot. Mcnabb lives and works out in arizona, I bet staying at home and playing and oh by the way throwing it to fitzgerald would be appealing.

This is a bit of a reach I understand, but if something does happen with mcnabb in philly I cant imagine a warner less cardinals team wouldnt be interested.

Interesting. Didn't know McNabb worked out.

One of the classiest people in the NFL. I'm glad he won't be in the league anymore because it will weaken other NFC teams, but he is a great ambassador for the sport.

look at what happened with Young getting benched, he saw and watched and learned from a reputable vet. Imagine Leinart behind a HOF'er?

But I was listening to Football Tonight on ESPN just a while ago and Beaker floated the McFlabb-to-Az idea also.

If they stick with Leinart, they're dead.

Warner expected to announce retirement Friday 1/27/2010 7:25:08 PM

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports the announcement Cardinals Kurt Warner will be making about his future on Friday will be that he is retiring. This is according to a source with knowledge of the situation, with the star also likely to discuss future post-playing plans.

Warner, who was pounded hard several times during a playoff loss to the Saints, will retire as one of the most prolific passers of his era, and someone who led two franchises to the Super Bowl.

Good riddance.

Congratulations to the San Francisco 49ers on becoming the favorites in the West.
