Moss turned down more more from Eagles to stay with Pats

Tuesday, Mar 4, 2008 7:01 am EST

Quoting an unnamed source, the Boston Herald reported the Philadelphia Eagles spoke to Randy Moss for quite a while Monday and over the weekend, attempting to lure him to Philadelphia, much like they had Asante Samuel. In fact, the Eagles offered Moss more than the 3-year, $27 million he received from the Pats. But Moss turned it down.

That says a lot about Moss, and his desire to win, and living up to the words he spoke last season when he arrived and took a paycut to join the Pats. Word out of Philadelphia is that the talks actually took place all weekend and at one point the Eagles thought they had Moss locked up, but Moss finally came to the decision that he was more comfortable with the Patriots and didn't want to leave New England.

And it's also an indication that the Eagles would very much consider a trade for Larry Fitzgerald that could include CB Lito Sheppard, something there's been some buzz about over the last few days.

Looks like the Eagles have their minds set on getting a big time receiver one way or the other this off season.

Even Moss can't catch many of McPuke's lame duck passes.

In the long run, Moss made the correct decision, IMO, if he wants a legitimate shot at a Super Bowl ring in the next 2-3 years.

I wonder if he called TO up and asked him what it was like to work with McNabb. I would guess the ratio of "Prima Donna to Competitiveness" was upside down going from Brady to McNabb.

this isn't even a rumor any more, it is confirmed by all of the big news outlets like espn and even moss agent has confirmed that he was offered more money from other teams. Imagine what type of splash that would have created around here had moss signed with the egirls. WOW. thank god hes smart enough to turn them down.

I'd stay with Brady for less money too. The under rated player in this is the Patriots OL. They keep their QB upright which means Moss gets better than average chances to make big plays.

Same here.

I'd take a couple mill less just to put up the crazy numbers and build upon a hall of fame career.

Moss is going to go down as one of the top receivers of all time for sure now.

Straight cash homie :money: :jackpot: :showme:

Exactly...

I'd also like to point out, Moss is great in running deep routes, and those take time to develop. If the Patriots OL starts to fade like they did late last year, the Patriots are going to slowly fade...

I don't know that their OL is underrated. I heard many comments over the season about how they were the smartest group of linemen in the league. Heck, they've been in commercials with Brady, how many linemen have you seen pimping products of tv lately?

During the season, Brady would just stand back there, completely immobile while he waited for Moss to get down field, no one would even come close to touching him.

There were games where his uniform looked like it just came out of the washing machine.

They are pretty dirty as well. They get away with some cheap shots, including tripping, as well as plenty of holding.

If you have the Super Bowl on tape, pay attention to the last scoring drive of the Patriots, when they were in the red-zone. The Giants left defensive end beat his man, and the offensive lineman clearly stuck out his foot to trip the defender. It was such an obvious call that went uncalled.

If he honestly turned down more money from Philly that just makes me absolutely smile.

Well the O-line was _____________? Fill in the blank

All I know is that Brady hurt his ankle in AFC title game. That injury contributed to him coming up short going deep to Moss atleast 2x.

The O-line got destroyed in SB.

So in the last 2 most important games... the O-lie... "notta so good"

On Comcast sportsnet last night, they claim that the Eagles offered him more money and guranteed money. I beileve he got 12 mil gurantee with the Pats but the Eagles offered 15. Comcast Sportsnet for the people who dont know is the ESPN of Philadelphia. It is a reliable source. It proves the Eagles are probably behind the scenes going for Fitzgerald and other wide outs. Its funny how the Eagles are just throwing money around. Theyre known for being tight. Has the success of the Gmen and the Cowboys make them go off the deep end?

Do you really think that Randy Moss would disclose his financial business to an "unknown source." For that matter ...any source. I'm very skeptical about information leaks that pertain to millions of dollars. And so what if he did refuse the Eagles ...Let's see - a 16-0 eam versus an 8-8 team!?!

You do the math! This is a case of the obvious outcome ...case closed!

One of the problems with the Eagles trying to lure a top notch WR like Moss may be that McNabb can't stay healthy, and is probably out of Philly within the next couple of years anyway.

Heck, it's a no-brainer to stick with the Pats over the Eagles. A couple extra million isn't going to change Moss' life.

More math:

Who would you rather have as your quarterback, Donovan McNabb or Tom Brady?

That's worth $3 million right there!

Why would Moss want to play for a wussie QB, in a city full of scum bags, and on a field with vomit all over it? :laugh2:

I mean, it's not like he would have any chance at a SuperBowl, right?

McPuke could not handle the success of T.O., how would he handle the success of Moss?

McPunk would fold like a cheap suit, just like he has in any big game!
