NOOOOOO! Just when we thought Deflategate was 100 percent over, we are getting pulled right back into it.

We don't know how much stock we put into this, but during the New York-based radio show Boomer and Carton this morning, host Craig Carton dropped a bit of a bombshell with regards to the never-ending Deflategate scandal. According to him, he spoke with a "very influential person in the NFL" on Thursday who told him that the league is still pushing hard for Tom Brady to serve a four-game suspension at some point this season. If you remember, the league has appealed the ruling that a judge handed down earlier this month nullifying the suspension, and they are now trying to expedite that appeal so that Brady will be forced to miss some games.

The NFL source told Carton that there is "no doubt in his mind" that the appeal will be finalized sometime between now and the end of the season.

Carton's co-host Boomer Esiason downplayed everything that the source said.

I don't believe it. Cheaters will cheat, and keep getting away with it.

So he will be suspended next March

That seems to depend on which 3 judges are drawn to hear the case. I looked on the Second court of appeals web site and see that 8 of the 13 active judges were appointed by President Clinton and President Obama. President George H.W. Bush appointed 1 active judge, President George W. Bush appointed 4. There are also 9 senior judges that hear a reduced caseload. There are 6 Senior judges appointed by Democratic Presidents and 3 by Republican Presidents. If the NFL had let the players file in Minnesota the appeal would have gone to the 8th circuit which has 8 active judges appointed by GOP presidents to only 2 active judges appointed by Democratic presidents.

Of course political considerations should not effect the objective judgement of the rule of law. (if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'm willing to sell you)

Getting Bermann in NY was a death blow. He seemed like a fan boy that loved the attention and having his day in the sun.

His decision was not sound IMO. Ruling that Brady didn't know cheating could get him a penalty, c'mon. No matter what they say, the commish was given tremendous power and leeway under the CBA.
