Rumor of possible trade talks??

Just took this followup info from Raphael Vela website. I've heard earlier in the week about such rumors of possible trade between Cowboys and Falcons but didn't realize who all were involved. Not happy about giving up our 22nd pick but getting both of Atlanta's two 2nd round picks does make me happy. Don't like giving up Henry but Hall is younger & wants lots of money. The signing of Thomas probably adds more to this rumor. Wonder what cap implications for trading Ayodele & Henry?

Update II: There’s a rumor gaining steam in the threads, apparently seen on ESPN (can anybody confirm?) that would break down like this:

Dallas gives up:
  • pick 22
  • it’s 4th rounder, 122nd
  • Anthony Henry
  • Akin Ayodele
Atlanta would give up:
  • D’Angelo Hall
  • the 37th pick (6th in round two)
  • the 48th pick (17th in round two)
Consider this: Akin Ayodele played at Jacksonville as a 4-3 OLB for defensive coordinator Mike Smith. The same Mike Smith who is Atlanta’s new head coach.
I tend to take rumors like this with a grain of salt, but this one appears to have a bit more juice than most.

i normally blow off rumors also, but given we're already talking to hall, somethings gotta give, ya know?

some legit speculation here.

If we were to make this trade, I might just kill myself. We're going to give up two starters and a first round pick for a loudmouth overrated CB and two second round picks? That's the epitomy of stupid. I'm sure Atlanta would be all for this trade.

I would do that trade. That would give us our 1st rounder, and 3 second round picks. Having D. Hall and Newman at the corners would allow us to spend our 1st rounder on WR or RB

I'll buy it when it's proven and still laugh at the thought of paying Hall 10 mil a year, but looks somewhat intriguing if it's for real.

How is this stupid? I'll admit, I dont trust Hall at all and Im not down for paying him 10 mil a year, but we're not giving up a whole lot and even tho Hall is a punk, he's still a better CB than Henry and I dont see how losing Ayodele would hurt us.

How do you see that? We would simply be trading one starting CB for another that will demand more money and isn't worth it.

Although this is a B.S. rumor, because trades dont happen like this in the NFL, i would do it because Hall in my opinion is a top 10 corner in this league. While Henry is nowhere in the top 25. Also it seems as if we would be trading our 1st rounder for 2 second round picks. Thats the thing im not sure about.

Even though I am with you on Hall's attitude, you have to look at this trade fully.

Yes, the Boys lose two starters, but will they both be starters next year? I don't see Akin starting next year and will probably end up being a backup... if not cut after June 1st. Henry is getting up there in age and Hall would be a younger talent who might be better coached with his old coach Maxie.

Then, in addition, we would get 2 early second round picks to select the BPA. This gives us some very good flexibility and the ability to add some good talent. Can you see a RB, WR, CB, OL in the second in this years draft that you would want Dallas to have? Of course you do and two of those positions could be addressed as well as whoever is selected in the first.

This would be a very good trade in my opinion.

Regardless how u think Hall and Henry compare, we would still just be trading starters and we need a third quality CB. Besides that, the trade rumor also says we would give up our 4th and Akin. Stupid trade IMO. We'd be giving up far more than we get.

thats not what i heard, i heard two scenarios;

first one is the cowboys give up
Barber
2 First round picks

Dallas gets
Atlantas 1st pick 3rd overall
deangelo hall
2nd round pick, possibly both 2's

next one, dallas gives up their 28th pick for hall, the giants are reported giving up their 31st pick for him,

this is where it was reported the cowboys contacted the falcons to get rights to talk to hall and his agent about contract details, no one is going to give up a number one draft pick to a cb for just one year, and then have to play him 9-10 million a year,

I will say this. If Burnett or Carpenter are ready to step into starting spots, it would make it a lot better trade for us. I know many think Thomas will take Akin's spot next year and he might just do that. However, he's 34 years old and has maybe only a couple of years left. We need to make sure we don't get rid of a starting LB and then have to scramble for another one in a year or two. Maybe the staff thinks Carpenter or Burnett can start now.

That's what those two 2nd round picks would be for. Akin Ayodele is a liability and a weak link on this defense, Henry is nothing better than a 3rd CB because the guy can't stay healthy for his life. As much as I don't like Hall's attitude, he would bring some toughness to our D which we need. I felt like last year when our D got punched in the mouth last year, the players would look around at each other like they didn't know what was going on. Hall would bring a much-needed swagger to our D, and he does make plays. Besides, this draft is EXTREMELY deep in WR, CB and RB. If this trade is true, GET IT DONE

As much as I love Barber, I'd take that first scenario in a heartbeat if both of atlanta's 2nd round picks were included. However, I can't see Atlanta going for that.

Rumors and nothing more. If Jerrah is going big it will be to get McFadden. Hall is not worth the kind of money he is asking for.

Dude... so let me get this right. You would be hell-bent for giving up Akin (who will probably be a back-up and basically is a stopgap at LB) and Henry for the first rumor mentioned, but would do the second deal mentioned that would trade the Barbarian and pick up and unproven RB???

I guess HEAVY drinking has begun in the off-season w/o the NFL and waiting for the draft....
