In the short term, they would be disassembling some of the cogs of their defense to achieve that. The defense was their 2014 strength. In the short term it's fantastic for the Cowboys.

The long term doesn't much matter as you can change a team in 3 years now.

If they trade all those picks for mariotta, then Chip Kelly is likely gone within three years, meaning Mariotta has to deal wtih a new regime in three years. That's a good thing for us.

With these rumors coming out with players mentioned, I think it's got to get done. Chip is going to pay whatever the cost to get Mariota.

Sad thing is, he thinks his system and system QB will redefine the NFL, but the QB won't matter because the WRs will not just be running wide open in the NFL every play. Mariota is still going to have to read defenses and throw into tight windows.

Bottom line to me is if a coach needs the perfect QB to make his scheme work, he's probably not that good of a coach anyways.

Supposedly the Eagles were trying to get one of the Browns' first rounders by trading them Bradford and a second, then use that, their #1 this year and their number one next year to get Mariotta. Possibly other players instead of the number one next year. I think they have already traded next year's second so that would basically mean Mariotta is their big addition for this year and next.
