Run Blocking...

One of the biggest lowlights for me yesterday was how horrid the run blocking looked, even with the "first teamers" in. There were no lanes, no movement, and it didn't help that Olawale kept running into the backs of his linemen.

Run blocking was what doomed us early last year and completely threw off our ability to call or execute a balanced game plan, which helped Garrett get out of control with the pass plays again.

We absolutely can not afford to not improve our run blocking, and I'm counting on Callahan to make that happen.

You can color me concerned as well.

I have a buddy in my fantasy league who has been trying to trade me Demarco Murray. I texted him last night and told him I would take him, but he'd have to give me a 5th round pick in return.

Sometimes, all you can do is laugh about it.

I will withhold judgement, until I see the starting Oline Sept. 5th.

If last night is an indication of how the rest of the season will go, I look forward to picking in the TOP TEN in the draft. Abysmal.

I think we suck at run blocking because it look like we don't fire off the ball. Its almost like we are going off the d-line movement instead of firing low off the ball and creating movement. Guys got to get lower, get leverage and push with their legs and feet.

Thought Callahan was going to take a hand full of dust and remake the 92 offensive line.

somebody switched his out with some fairy dust

this was by far the biggest disappointment of the night. more than anything i want this team to become a good running team again. demarco had nowhere to run yesterday.

It's a good thing preseason games matter.

We haven't had good run blocking in ages. The entire time Garrett's been here he's manufactured a run game through scheme.

That was the one thing I was hoping might change a little with Livings, Bernadeau and Leary.

The run game may very well suck once we get our starters on the field but sometimes it takes a little more than 11 overall plays to establish the run.

Dallas would draft another CB. Don't get excited.

Never heard anyone say he would turn them into the 92 OL but then again that line before 92 with many of the same players looked like crud when they 1st came in under Landry. No one was singing the praise of Tuine or Newton.

Callahan lastnight had to deal with a center taking his 1st snaps ever in a live game and missing Gaurds but hey don't let facts get in the way.

Bernadeau didn't get any movement while run blocking. He will be a starter, so there is reason to be concerned with him. He couldn't start for the Panthers, but I like his size. Holland is a better player. He should be signed and Bern could move to center. Bern has to be better than Costa.

With two backups starting in the middle of the line, one who was so paranoid about bad snaps that he probably was slow on the uptake in blocking assignments, I guess it was about what you'd expect. We probably won't have a true read on run blocking until Livings and a real center are up to speed.

Hey, I didn't say I had complete confidence in any of them. I was just hoping an interior of Livings Bernadeau Leary could at least be a run blocking upgrade.
