As we all know, our run defense was atrocious last year, and the biggest reason for the struggles we had on that side of the ball. It was the biggest factor in the sweeping coaching changes after just one season and the biggest fix on Quinn’s list.

Thus far, it’s looked improved, but it still hasn’t been truly tested yet. We have not played a team that’s been committed to running the ball.

Tampa has the GOAT, and clearly their offense runs through him and the passing game.

The Chargers have a terrific young quarterback in Herbert, and their offense is predicated on the passing game as well.

And the Eagles? Who knows WHAT their game plan was Monday night? One thing is for sure, it wasn’t running the ball. Despite a 24-yard carry, Miles Sanders had two for the entire night. His backup had one more. Philadelphia never even tested Dallas run defense.

But I expect a committed effort from Carolina, even without McCaffrey. They stuck with it last week against Houston even after he was hurt. The Panthers want to be a balanced offense and not put all of the pressure on their new quarterback Sam Darnold.

I firmly believe that the Cowboys run defense will be tested more than it has been all season and I hope it’s up to the task.

Hubbard doesn't scare me in the least. I expect about 18 touches for 80 yards with 0 TDs for him.

Rhule likes to pound the rock. We best stop the run and keep them in 3rd and long situations.

Im not too worried about Chubba Hubbard.

I agree. If Dallas loses this game my hunch is that it will be because they did a poor job defending the run. If that occurs you can expect a rinse and repeat from the rest of the league until the Cowboy’s find answers.

They have to run because their QB is trash. This is the same turnover machine if we can just get to him. Yes I know he tore us up a couple years ago but that’s because of this teams trash of coaches at the time. I’d blitz this guy all day long and I’d send some corners and safeties too. No qb like dbs blitzing.

1) If Dak and the Cowboys score early and often the Panthers will go pass heavy.

2) Show Darnold some run defense looks, even if disguises, and Darnold will audible to the pass.

This is key. Score early and often. They’ve led in all games and have been able to pound the ball with mccaffrey. He’s their leading rusher (obviously) but was their 2nd leading receiver.

Anderson has 5 catches on the year and Marshall is still raw. I put Diggs on Moore and force them to pass. Their tight ends have a combined 3 catches in three games as they traded Arnold.

They're a bit of an empty 3-0 though once you look at their opponents

A lot of other teams fans are saying the same thing about us. They think the refs handed us the Chargers victory and the Eaglets are just trash.

I don't care if the fans underestimate them ....... just hope our coaching staff convinces the team how dangerous they can be.

This is exactly the kind of game we lose in the past 15 years.

Without DLaw the run D is going to struggle even more. I'm really surprised the teams we faced so far didn't take advantage.

As far as run defense goes, what makes Lawrence so much better than Urban or Basham or Golston or Gregory? Lawrence is paid big money because of his supposed pass rush ability.

Posters here tout Lawrence’s run defense as great but I don’t see anything in his run defense that the others can’t do as well.

Ball control is an effective counter against a high- powered offense like the Cowboys. I felt the Chargers did that but with their passing game. I expect Carolina to try with their run game.

Running the ball effectively is CAR only chance imo. DAL has been weak and untested in the run game. CAR OL can not block the DAL pass rush. Stop the run, then tee off on Darnold.

Great game to move #11 back to MLB to be a run stopper. Big game for the DEs as CAR loves to bootleg...stay home and get in Darnold's face.

If #9 n #55 are the two LBs DAL will struggle vs the run.
