Run Game

Felix could get it done if he had running lanes.

We've played two Top 5 rush defenses so far. I'll hover my finger over the "Run Game Panic" button if we don't rack up some yardage against the Deadskins.

Not sure if it's the line, the backs, or maybe we ran into two tough run defenses.

That last one can't be emphasized enough. The 49ers were second in the league last year in avg ypc allowed in the running game (and they've upgraded since then), and everyone knows the Jets have a stout run d.

Dallas' collective strengths/weaknesses will shift as they play a better mix of teams.

From his play in preseason. He seems very high strung.

He had a small sampling against 2nd and 3rd teamers, practice squad players and guys who were cut completely. I liked what I saw from him too, but we need to put in perspective and understand what he did in preseason may not translate as well into regular season NFL games against starting NFL defenses. Right now he is a guy with potential, not a guy who has proven anything.

I don't mind seeing him. I can't say there is much to lose considering how little running success we've had so far. But the point is there is no reason as things stand today to believe he will have any more success than the others. Felix looked great in limited time in the preseason, and against 1st team defenses, and Choice and Murray both looked good in preseason as well. I loved what I saw with Tanner, but I think it's WAY premature to say we have any feel for what he will or can do in regular season NFL games.

I know its mostly bad Oline play but it seems JG is giving all 3 backs a chance to make a play. I wonder which of the 3 will step up. I am starting to believe Felix is better as a complimentary back. Choice and Murray ? maybe but to be honest that kid on the practice squad reminds me of a true Frank Gore type Rb. Tanner is his name?

I don't know, but I was very encouraged the way Felix was running the ball in the pre season. I love it when you can run it and the other team can't do anything about it. Plus, it seems that is the way to attack the EAGLES down the road.
