Until Zach Martin and Steele play better, our run game is going to be average at best. Martin has been bad lately and Steele has been really bad.
Hopefully Mazi can get better as season goes on.

Yes, Martin was not good vs Niners.

Tyler was crushing people and Tyron's run blocking was good.

Pollard often ran to the wrong side of blocks.

Example:
If Tyler blocks left and Biadasz blocks right, then the intended hole is between them.

When Pollards run left of Tyler in that scenario, then the defender turns his back to Tyler and the block is over.

Maybe Pollard was fast enough to do that in past years, but it's not working now.

People can talk all day how bad Dak is, but where in the hell is our running game? Wasn’t it suppose to be better without Zeke?
The passing game was supposed to be better without Dez. It wasn't. Now they say the running game is supposed to be better without Zeke and that Pollard could shoulder the load - it isn't and he can't. Perhaps it's time to stop believing that the Cowboys front office can actually evaluate talent. Just a thought.

you do realize that even during the game and after the game and all week I've been saying this where was our run game?? Our offensive line is not physical we had no run game in the last 3 playoff losses and last 3 games against the niners.. Playing one-dimensional ball we're a bad defense = LOSS

we lack the physicality to stand up against a better front sevens in football... Most quarterbacks will struggle in that situation... Think about the Rams 2018 game the last three 49er games to two Washington games how this offense struggles so bad... They're getting blown off the line of scrimmage they're being stood up they're being handled with 4 man line most snaps and allows the D to pay max coverage and nones getting open=LOSS

for sure it'll always circle back to quarterbacks they're supposed to be gods and they're supposed to do something with nothing

this weekend should tell you something there were some really ugly play by some allegedly top five quarterbacks..

Were was the run game, where was the defense and where the heck was the pass rush. People act like it was Dak fault we lost. I mean his play didn't help us win but watch the game. We weren't winning that game with the way the defense was laying down. The 49er punched us in the mouth and we just fell down and laid there instead of getting back up and trying to fight back.

The Browns are a hard nosed team. They run the ball and play defense. On a soggy field, they are tough to beat.

It was 17-7 in the 3rd quarter. Dak had ample opportunity to get us in the game. That’s his job and why we pay him like an elite qb.

You mean when the defense stopped the SF offense 4 straight times? Maybe it would have been nice for the offense to have more than 10 plays during this stretch of time while the score was still 7 to 0. Yes they all share blame but there was zero offense from the start. From the HC down to the players it was a pathetic effort on offense.

Yeah. We run more when we are ahead

The 7% is for games when the Cowboys lost while having more rushing yards than the opponent.

That means the winning team had less rushing yards than the losing team which is the opposite of the winning team racking of yards to grind the clock.

Dallas did a good job limiting the run in the playoff game last year. I dont know if Shanahan made a bunch of adjustments to counter or what since that meeting. Or did Quinn mistakenly go into the game with a different game plan? I felt pretty good about the defense matching up with SF at the LOS...until last Sunday night.

Some things:

1) I'm not liking the run blocking scheme and play design - seems like it's design for str8 ahead and not
a stretch run scheme that emphasizes cut back lanes; Niners nor Dolphins OL are overpowering but they have
an excellent slant run scheme that traps and seals lanes and angles for cut-back lanes & angles.
Neither team has a big pounding bell cow that several on this board have been insisting we need.

And this run design-play calling is very simplistic and predictability, and offers zero " misdirection " deception.
It's a reason why teams seem like they are always in our backfield for tackle losses, early and often.
(plus they're overloading cuz lack of respect for our non-vertical, non-stretch pass game)

2) Quit running this FB lead block with Hunter Lupeke - he is a mediocre lead blocker, and they're forcing him to
be something he is not. he's just leaning or shadowing tacklers and still seems confused/hesitant who to block
he's not physically knocking 'em outta the hole. Backs could probably see/hit hole faster if he'd not in the way.

3) I do not like depending upon draw play runs outta the shotgun formation, instead of handoffs under center.

4) Pollard is not comfortable yet in this scheme and this current role.
A) he is not a pound-grind bell cow, but we keep using him as one.
B) Few times he's not running to the proper run lane. why cut back in when you have a clear out lane to outside ?

5) Deuce has electric quickness and elusiveness to offer, both in run & pass game, but he's gonna be buried
on depth chart and useless with this coaching staff. Will only plays if there is a blowout loss or win,
or a Pollard/Rico hurt in game.

A Pity cuz Mac in GB had terrific run schemes with 2 backs, split formations that featured " misdirection".

the key to their offense is the running game as you said. specially Mccaffrey. without him, that offense struggles and nobody respects their running game and they just drop more into coverage and makes it difficult for Purdy....
