Running against the Rams, schematically?

With the strength of the Rams defense being up the middle on the DL, should the runs be designed to bump to the outside most of the time?

Have you watched us play? There is no finesse to our run scheme. It's basically, sit-back, watch for the hole, attack the hole.

I love those plays where Zeke gets outside in space like he did on third down against the Seahawks, but we are a predominantly 'run right down your throat' team.

Keep running outside until the Rams stop it. In the first quarter, Dallas ought to try a couple runs directly at The Donald to see if it works, if he simply clogs it up, then forget about it.

I'd love the first play of the game to be a deep flea-flicker bomb. Rams know Cowboys are going to lean on Zeke heavily, so this would be a way to catch them off guard.

They lost their best 2 LB's in last of season which I believe has contributed to their D not being as good as advertised. We need to mix up our runs against them.

Look for a lot of man-power running with combo blocks and pulling guards from Donald's side.

I miss the days of being a zone blocking run. The 2014 zone stretch was so freaking money.

Littleton is a beast and is right behind Donald as their best player on defense. Dude is a flat out tackling machine with great ball hawking skills.

You would think that the strength of the Rams Defense would be up the middle against the run but it's not. Donald is a great player but he is small. Suh is a monster but he doesn't play disciplined scheme football. He likes to free lance and he over penetrates. You can not have that in a 34. The NT has to stay disciplined and hold true to Gap integrity. Your NT must control the A Gaps. If he doesn't, everything falls apart and you get your LBs collected. This has been a big part of the problem with the Rams run defense this year. Suh is perfectly capable of filling this role but it means that he has to give up a lot of his game. He likes to make things happen, he likes to penetrate and be a play maker. Your 34 NT can not be that guy. He has to be the lunch pale, no glory, eat tackles all day long guy that plays with the utmost discipline because the entire scheme relies on that guy to work.

If Suh buys into this and plays with gap discipline, we could have a tough time against the Rams. If he does not do this, we could see Zeke running for the hills. This is a huge game for Looney. Joe can not get overpowered by Suh. We can't afford to double up on Suh the whole game because Donald is too disruptive. The Rams could be tough if they stay disciplined but they haven't done this over the last several games. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Funny you mention flea-flicker. I've had this feeling that JG is going to pull one out during the playoffs. I actually thought they might try it against Seattle. I can feel one coming...

I think they will anticipate Zeke taking the outside, I say we run right at them. We need to mix it up, fast pace.
We should run a few run options, play-actions, use Dak's strengths. The rams have a high powered offense, SL should take note and utilize his high powered offense the right way.

Let's call it, no dink and dunk Saturday

Don't be surprised if we throw the ball a lot against the Rams. We may have to start with the passing game. Their DC is Wade. He will try to take the run away, for sure. It's going to be interesting.

ISO runs inside with a CAG combination (center And guard) on Donald. Zekes biggest improvement imo is how patient of a runner he has been this year

Agreed. It's an enticing matchup.

Maybe do some screens, outside runs, WR screens...get their linemen moving and chasing to tire them out. Then run it right at them.
