Teams that have tried running at the Packers Defense and have shown thats its not the easiest job in the world. In fact its there worst nightmare.

Eagles@Packers: Brian Westbrook was held to 20 carries for 85 yards while McNabb ran 4 times for 9 yards. Buckhalter ran 4 times for 5 yards. The Pack was still learning there own defense at this game and held a pretty good offense under 100 yards rushing. Not only that but they managed to stop the pass as McNabb was 15-33 184 yards. 1 TD 1 INT. The defense was lead by Nick Barnett who had 9 Tacks and 4 assists and a game ending pick. It wasnt solo tackles for this team though. 18 assists were made while shuting down this offense. Corey Williams had the only sack. The Eagles were 6-18 on 3rd down cuasing them to lose 13-16.

Packers@Giants: Ward was the RB for NY as Brandon Jacobs was hurt. But when it came to running the ball, once again the Pack held them under 100 yards. Ward rushed 15 times picking up 90 yards and Moss had a run that went for 4 yards. Though it looked like Ward had a great game his yards didnt happen until the Packers entered the prevent defense shutting down Elis thorws but oppening a run game. 9 gang tackles out of the Packers and an INT, out of Corey Williams the DT. Eli was 16-29 with 211 yards. He had a TD and a pick in a 35-13 loss. Nick Collins lead the team with 5 Tacks.

Chargers@Packers: Tomlinson was arguably the best RB in the League coming into this game but the Packers made him look like Reuben Drougns out there. Tomlinson only mustered 62 yards out of 22 carries and no scores. It was 20 more gang tackles for the Pack, and Atari Bigby lead the defense in tckles with 8 and 2 assists. Nick Barnett finished the game with another game winning INT. Kampman had .5 sacks and KGB had 1.5 sacks. Rivers was almost perfect the first half going 16-17, 159 yards. He ended with 27-36, 306 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT. 31-34 loss to Packers.

Packers@Vikings: The first signs of a weak rushing defense from GB. Adrian Peterson only carried the ball 12 times and he picked up 112 yards. Taylor carried the ball 8 times and picked up 40. The team was lead in tckles by Barnett and Hawk who both had 7 tacks and 1 assist. It was the sacks that killed the Vikings. KGB pulled in 3 sacks, Kampman had 1, and Pickett had 1. Bigby pulled in an INT in a 23-16 victory for the Pack.

Bears@Packers: Packers went back to a great rush defense and would have won this game if rookie reciever James Jones could hang onto the football. Cedric Benson ran the ball 27 times for only 64 yards and picked up a TD. Peterson ran the ball 3 times for 12 yards and Hester ran it once for 5 yards. 16 more gang tackles and the Packers Atari Bigby leads the team with 7 tackles. Nick Barnett got to the QB 1.5 times and Kampman got the other .5. The Pack lost a heart breaker, 27-20.

Commanders@Packers: Packers won this nail biter 17-14 and once again held up in the rush defense. Portis was held to 64 yards after carrying the load 20 times. Other RBs picked up 20 yards of 9 carries. In 13 gang tackles the Packers pulled together 3 forced fumbles. Kampman pulled in 3 sacks, Jenkins had 1. Nick Barnett lead the team in tacks with 8 and had 4 assists.

Packers@Broncos: MNF and Brett took the stage. His two TDs in this game were both bombs. The first to James Jones and the second to Greg Jennings, the first play in the OT. Young was held to 71 yards on 18 carries and hall was held to 10 yards on 3 carries. Packers Nick Barnett led the team with 6 tackles and had 3 of the 19 assists. Kampman had 3 sacks in the 19-13 victory.

Packers@Chiefs: Larry Johnson was injured early but that was no excuse for being shut down. The Pack held him to 53 yards off 19 carries and Holmes ran the ball 3 times for 8 yards. Interceptions came from Woodson at the end that went for a score and one from Hawk earlier. Corey Williams had the most tacks with 6. He also had 2 sacks. Also KGB had 2 sacks and Kampman had 1. The Packers had all solo tackles in this 33-22 victory.

All the remaining Packer games were complete blowouts and wouldnt exactly be fair to add them because the Pack played prevent defense from the halftime on and let the opposers run the ball to not allow big plays.

The Packers have a very good defense.

We'll have our hands full.

I'm not sure we'll try to establish the run. We haven't done that one time this year.

We'll step back and throw the ball.

Wishful thinking on your part -- as I explained the last time you tried to use that lame excuse.

And the Packers allow 100.1 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per rush. Their run defense is fairly mediocre. The Lions' running game is weak, and they just rushed for 113 yards IN THE FIRST HALF against the Packers.

Really?

I didn't get to watch that game.

The Packers defense is still very good.....or they've played well.

The first game I ever saw played was a Packers vs Cowboys game. My Dad was a Cowboys fan so he brought me up watching them but I wanted to root against my Dad so I picked the Packers to win. Since then Ive liked the Pack but Ive never hated the Cowboys.

Q. WHAT IS A PACKER??

A. THERE USED TO BE A REALLY BIG MEAT PACKING COMPANY.

Why would you name your team after a "packing company"......

When the team was started Curly Lambeau needed funding for his team and someones meat packing company gave him the money. In respect, Curly named the team the Packers.

Yep. Kevin Jones was running all over them in the 1st half. That's how they were moving down the field so well in the 1st half. If they finished those drives, they would scored alot more than just 26 points. Instead, Kitna couldn't complete a pass in GB's territory to save their lives so they had to settle for field goals.

The only reason the Pack beat the Eagles was because the Eagles coundn't field a couple of punts, it had nothing to do with rushing defense.

Well then.

As a Packer fan, you have claimed that Al Harris is a dirty player.

FloridaRob.....your thoughts?

KGB: Could miss the game with anckle/knee injury. Great pass rusher who is rotated in and out of passing downs. 9.5 sacks this season. Cant stop run that well.
Cullen Jenkins: Rotated in and out of rushing down. DT like body used to collapse line at get to the RB.
Ryan Pickett: Large DT that clogs the line up and makes tackles often. When hes not playing its the area you run to.
Corey Williams: At DT hes a sack machine and forces a lot of fumbles when doing it. Probobly trhe most improved player on the Pack defense.
Aaron Kampman: Best Defensive lineman to me. He leads the league in sacks and his tackling skills are over looked by his pass rush.
AJ Hawk: Fast LB that hits hard however hes on his sophmore slump season. Bad when covering TEs.
Brady Popinga: Weak spot in front seven. Decent pass covering for a LB.
Nick Barnett: Having another Pro Bowl season and is really the leader of this D. Strong tackler and is a drive killer at the end of the game making big interceptions.
Al Harris: Shutdown corner that is very dirty. Like to push and shove but he doesnt go for the INT unless he has 100% help and 100% sure he can get it.
Charles Woodson: Slow for a corner but sticks to his man like glue. Big time interception play maker. Could miss game.
Will Balckmon: Could return from injury to play the nickel and dime corner. A definte change in the defense if he plays.
Nick Collins: Faster Safety in the league. Great tackling skills put with some great hands should make him a premiere Safety but he is often burned often getting lost when playing Zone defense. May not play.
Atari Bigby: Hes a great tackling Safety and a heavy hitter but always pulling penalties. Hes the reason the Pack defense stays on the field often.
Aaron Rouse: 6-4 towering mass. Hes said though to look like Tarzan, play like Jane. Doesnt rap tacklers up. Instead he thorws his body into recievers and backs hoping they go down. Great pass coverer and has made two interceptions so far only having two strarts.

In the interest of fairness lets look at the Boys D;
Spears DE; strong against the run- slight against the pass
Backup is Hatcher= good pass rusher not as strong against the run- really came on strong at camp untill injured; early in season was making a push to start but faded- did show life against the Jets.
Jay Ratlif NT; very quick and active. but can be worn down; good pass rusher but sometimes can be taken out of the play.
BACKUP is Tank; still rusty but like Ratliff active; has a heavier lower body and therefore harder to take out, but probably not as good a pass rusher.
Chris Canty- more active then Spears and has been coming on as a pass rusher; gets his hands up and will block passes. Right now our best DE.
Backup is Bowen who is pretty much just a guy.
OLB De Ware; ALL Pro this year almost a certainty; can kill you in rushing the passer, covering backs, running down plays, all around monster.
Backup is Capenter who has not shown much this year.
ILB Akin Ayodele; very solid, does not get in a lot of plays but holds his ground and clogs things up pretty good; not great in coverage.
ILB;Brady James; was great two years ago =not good last year; playing very well this year with a reduced weight; much better at coverage though still not great.
Kevin Burnett is the backup at ILB right now ; much lighter and quicker and covers a lot better but has not been all that run stopping; has some pass rush ability
OLB Greg Ellis is having a career year rushing the passer and is nasty against the run; too big to be very good in coverage
Backup is Spencer, rookie; has good pass rushing skill and is OK against the run; obviously still learning.
CB Terrence Newman= quite simply top 5 CB and no one is better at taking a WR out of the game; only drawback is stone hands and has dropped too many INTS that for some reason makes many morons think he is not that good; also very good in run support
CB Anthony Henry; big CB not particularly fast and right now with a injured ankle so restricted to Nickel package. Very good at jumping routes and making QBs pay
Jaque Reeves; was 3rd CB forced to start due to Henry' and previously Newmans injury. Good player- has improved but is somewhat tentative and will give up catches.
SS Roy Williams; easily the most controvertial D player; has problems in coverage and has shown reluctance to get aggressive due to fines and warnings of possible suspensions. CAN lay the wood but has not done so recently. Has been playing better in run support recently.
FS Ken Hamlin has become the QB of the secondary and has helped stabilize and improve it. Has a tendency to bite on play fakes but is good in coverage; good at run support and lays wood pretty well.
backup is Ken Watkins; big kid who is learning and has potential.
