PAMPLONA, Spain – A bull gored two Britons and an American during the running of the bulls through the streets of the northern Spanish city of Pamplona on Monday, officials said.

Thousands of daredevil runners charged for the third day ahead of six fighting bulls of the annual San Fermin festival on Monday, when the three were gored by an animal that broke free from the pack just before entering the city's bullring, a Navarre regional government statement said.

The bull charged the runners as they huddled on the ground beside a wooden fence, trying to protect themselves from the beast. After several moments of tension, the animal was lured away by stick-wielding cowherds. None of the three was seriously injured.

The morning runs are the highlight of the annual San Fermin festival, which became world famous with the publication of Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises."

The regional government said one Briton, aged 20, was gored in the right leg while the other, aged 29, was gored in the left leg. The American, 38, from Philadelphia, was gored in the right calf muscle.

I tend to cheer for the bull. I have heard of thinning of the herd maybe they should call this the herd thinning out the idiots. :laugh2:

+1 ... I just don't get the appeal; proves nothing, IMO.

Wanna be a respected man, or woman? Be honest, be naturally courageous when it counts, work hard (to the best of your ability) in whatever you are tasked to do, treat those you know and meet with love and respect. Running or standing in front of bulls is no substitute.

Here's a video of this kind of machismo gone decidedly wrong:

An adrenaline rush is an adrenaline rush, I guess.
I see no problem with it, like any past time, it's a matter of preference.

I'm sure you could get an adrenaline rush trying to run across a freeway but it is not very smart. :laugh2:

Or dodging a train... :D
Some guy with a flying suit jumping off cliff's, someone driving a car at insane speeds, tempting fate at the horns of bull. All the same.

I tend to cheeer for the bulls. It could be a fun video game, being a bull and picking who you'd like to skewer. I'd like to be able to train and ride one of the bulls. That way you could REALLY pick and choose your victims. You could gore, stomp and repeat, with great gusto. ;)

It is stupid as hell, but in my late teens and early 20's I'd have damned sure done it. It is a life experience.

Why not take food out of the claws of a hungry Grizzly if you need some life experience or a rush. :laugh2:

What can I tell you man? I was a thrill seeker for a long time and did a lot of cool things. I consider that a life experience and if I had ever made it to Spain for the Festival of San Fermin, I would have done that.

It probably still wouldn't be the craziest thing I ever did. I'd tell you what that is, but I know what happens when I tell stories here.

I think it is amazing that the locals have been able to trick so many tourists into coming to their country to participate in this event.

One year I'm going to make it to Pamplona as a spectator.

Get a space high up on a balcony. ;)
I remember video of onlookers getting trashed, but can't find it right now.
