For anyone that missed it, Here is Neil Peart, Drummer for Rush performed on David Letterman last night. Other than the clack of his sticks in the first few seconds, it's a flawless performance.

Peart is the premiere drummer of all time...

Excellent drummer and A+ lyricist.
If you would told me 30 years ago that in 2011 Peart would be doing a solo on letterman i would been like ya sure.

Maybe it was just my age, or that time of my life, but for me, nothing ever measures up to the drum solo in In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

Great drum solo, great song, great time to be a teen-ager.

I still say John Henry Bonham is the greatest drummer who ever walked the face of the earth. What makes Peart so special to me is his song writing. The guy is genius when it comes to lyrics.

Dang, nice one, and I am generally pretty critical about drum solos.

Pert may be the best rock drummer.

Max Roach was most probably the best trap set player, imo.

Inna Gadda Da Vidda? Well, I guess it was a good time to be a teenager....

Peart is obviously an extremely skilled drummer, but I like the drum solos that carry rhythm or better practically an entire song. In that solo he plays a few things changing up doing different things. This solo sounds more like a skills display rather than anything of musical quality.

I guess you could say he was playing "off the cuff", but the guy has been playing for year and years and years. I'm sure he has something of musical quality he could have played rather than just putting his skills on display.

You would dig his 'Pieces of Eight" solo.

I gotta agree here. Wasn't one of his best percussive displays. However, that wasn't even close to a skill display for Neil.

Yes, Pieces of Eight is awesome. That is the type I expect to hear.

Peart is MJ of the drums far and away. And Rush is underrated. One of the most musically proficient bands all time.

I saw Rush live years ago & it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. He's excellent..all 3 of them are!

I appreciiate Peart, but I prefer drummers who play more "musically". Guys ike Steve Smith or Carter Beauford, or Stuart Copeland (though Stuart rarely solos).
