His arm is as good as Daks. Dak has to put his whole body into a throw to get any kind of zip or range on it. If you look at the play yesterday where he got hurt its on full display
Although I was just making a joke, Rush's arm strength is a noted weakness. Dak isn't a power thrower, but there's quite a bit of difference between the two. Rush makes up for it with anticipation. If you lead WRs into their breaks, then the DB has less time to react. Where he has failed (when Philly ended his streak, making three interceptions) is making tight-coverage throws downfield because he can't zip it through. He also has to really be able to step into his deep throws because he's not going to get it there on arm alone.

He turns 31 this month. He’s four months younger than Prescott. Why would he be able to relate to “young guys” or they to him, anymore than Dak can?

Oh, the young guys will leaning on Cooper Rush this coming weekend, alright. Many of them will be wearing green. Too many. Rush doesn’t have the legs to run out of the pocket but he does seem to have more awareness than Dak and niftier feet to step up or sidestep the rush.

The good thing about Rush is he comes in and runs the play as it's called. I feel Dak gets easily baited into changing things at the LOS. Just my opinion.
I feel like that diminishes Rush's football IQ, which is his greatest strength. I think Rush generally is not fooled by coverage so he gets a clean read initially and knows where to throw the ball. Dak thinks he knows where he should go with the ball, but then the defense makes its coverage shift and he has to progress off that through his options. (Some of that is the fault of the receivers because we don't have enough who can consistently create separation.) When you see the initial look by the defense and know that it really means they are going to shift from man to cover-2 at the snap or drop linebackers at the snap, then you know where you have to go with the ball. Of course, you still have to rely on the receivers to get there and catch the ball. And, of course, it does no good to make a great read if you miss the target.

I don't think lean on means relate to. In this context, it appears to mean have confidence in because he's shown he can do it, he's shown he knows what to do. He can tell them, "I need you to do this," and you know it's not coming from some inexperienced rookie who barely knows the playbook.

Rush knows this team is going nowhere fast and now he may not even have Ceedee to throw to.

This stint will be a way different thing than when he went 4-1 but he's a pro and will do his job as best he can.

My expectations are the same as before game 1.......a down season
At this point just being competitive would be nice and wins would be the icing in the cake. I wanna see Rush spread it around to the youngsters and see what happens

Considering we don't throw the ball past 5yds ,it shouldn't be a problem...lol
1st off it is not we. 2nd Dak does not throw more then 5 yards. 3rd Rush finds the open man within the play call and gives said receiver an honest chance to succeed

You’re suggesting Rush’s accomplishments in the NFL will appeal to players more than Prescott’s? Cooper Rush is as useful as breasts on a fish. The Eagles are a bad team with a goof for a head coach struggling to re-establish themselves and the Cowboys are going to serve up Cooper Rush? Prescott could have beaten the Eagles. No one has confidence in Rush, particularly his teammates. Commanders are probably going to protest if Prescott isn’t put on IR and so is able to play against them.

Who's suggesting that? You came up with that all on your own.

I'm saying what "lean on" means, based on the context of what McCarthy said. He didn't say anywhere that that means Rush's accomplishments appeal to players more than Prescott's.

If they can’t “lean on” Prescott no way they lean on Rush. What nonsense. Eagles are beatable. Jerry Jones paid no attention to legitimate depth. The Cowboys’ coaching staff know nothing they can do with the lineup they have will enable them to perform in a manner that makes them appealing to another team. They will all be looking for jobs, literally, in 60 days. They are all aware of their fate.

All he is saying is that Rush is a veteran, proven backup, so he knows what he's doing when he's out there and the young players can count on that. I think you are looking to pick a fight with an argument no one is making.

I think fans are just looking for something different to root for there hasn’t been much rooting this season. Regardless of whatever happens your boys spot is protected his contract guarantees it for at least 3-4 years.
