Rush Wilson up the middle

Ive been thinking the same all week, just need to be in their backfield all day regardless of where the heat is coming from, but having a middle push can also serve as a run blitz, and Seattle likes to pound the rock.

This worked against Brees. Shorter QB, take away passing lanes. Will this work against a more mobile QB like Wilson?
The idea situation is your front 4 can get pressure while your LBs clean it up. Im sure Wilson will be doing a lot of roll outs and that is exactly what you dont want him to be doing!

You got to rush Wilson from his right side and force him out to his left side. Give him nothing easy to throw to up the middle or take off up the middle.

We got to mix coverage from Zone 3 to man bump and run a lot and bring some blitzes from the right and the middle.

When he get's flushed out of the pocket and tries to escape to his left side is when he is at his worst. Do not let Wilson out on his right side, he is an absolute nightmare.

exactly what you said, and Wilson discovered a new toy in Baldwin the past 2 weeks.
Week 15 - 30 yr old Baldwin goes 4 for 77 and 2 TDs.
Week 16 - 30 yr old Baldwin is targeted 12 time for 126 and a touch.
If everybody thinks that Lockett is the only concern in their passing game, ya need to wake up.

When he has to throw to Byron Jones' side for most of the game we will be ahead in that battle. He will have to force some to Awuzie's side, where Baldwin is probably going to line up and where I think the INT will happen. That blitz throwing on that side is going to be right in his face.
When Wilson flushes out to his left side and can't make throws on Jones he will try to flush out of the pocket to his left if there's nothing up the middle.

That's where Jaylon Smith has the speed to run him down. That's why I don't want too many Jaylon Smith blitzes up the middle. Rather him take care of the run first, watch for pass up the middle and spy 3rd. If Jaylon does blitz up the middle Heath has to come up into that spot to watch the middle and spy on Russell with Woods playing high deep safety.

We have to stop the run 1st and then flatten their play action. 3rd Wilson's leg's. This is how you do it.

And I will add, that as teams have finally started rolling coverage to Lockett, is the reason why Baldwin has seen a recent explosion.
They adapt well, and have the talent to do so, but our counter punch is our back 7, we have the ability to neutralize this.

edit.. @AKATheRake .. I posted this in response and forgot to hit reply,, my bad.

This is where IMHO our elite LB's are going to make the difference. Wilson is going to be contained after he gets rocked by 54 and 55! One big hit and he won't be scrambling as much. Then as the headline says...rush up the middle for sack town!!

No quarterback likes pressure coming up the middle, I think our DE's and LB's or fast enough to run him down should he escape to one side or the other. Bring the heat and get those arms and hands into the throwing lanes.

The key is Wilson is a stone cold killer on the run. You want him passing from the pocket. If pressure comes up the middle, 1) the outside guys cannot miss or take a bad angle; and 2) a LB has to be in the middle so he doesn’t take off through a lane there.

With Wilson, you want him to feel the pressure, but I think keeping him in the pocket is more important than the actual sacks. He has also proven absolutely deadly with the high, arching bombs downfield that allow receivers to pace themselves and use their bodies to shield the defender for big plays. Then there’s the need to stop Carson.

I’m much more worried about the Seattle offense putting up 30 on our defense than I am about our offense scoring in the 20’s vs their defense.

That's the intangible that separates the Cowboys from all the post season NFC comp post season right there.

There's a film analysis floating around out there from the Seahawks/Vikings game showing that rushing him from his right and forcing him to his left produced his lowest numbers of the year. The video and analysis were pretty compelling.

No QB, big or small, likes pressure in his face. The issue with Wilson is keeping him from escaping outside.

Gotta keep him contained and have the LB’s take turns spying on him.. He seems to be a tad slower this year though...
