Russell Okung fires agent, will represent himself

I've often wondered why some players in the NBA don't do this since they have max contracts. The NFL is more difficult with no agent.

Would you ever sign a contract of that magnitude, without being literate in the language? I know I wouldn't.

Well the NBA has guaranteed max contracts. So if I knew the max I would know the most I could make. There's much more to the football contracts.

You could always, you know, learn it.

I'm surprised that more players don't represent themselves. If you sign a $50 mill contract, you'd be saving $1.5 mill.

I always wondered why more athletes didn't do this. But I am willing to bet Okung has no idea how much time a negotiation actually takes. There is usually a reason why most negotiations are protracted for front line players in the NFL.

You could hire an attorney for a fraction of what the agent will cost.

I want a guy who knows his trade. A lawyer on general. I would be concerned.

For the mega max contracts.... They get too much anyways.... Agents gotta eat... Spread the wealth.... "O"-style

Lmao

True to get through all the legalese but an agent would have an idea of the pulse of the league as opposed to a lawyer or the player.
