I can't believe that a team who negotiated with several of the top picks before the draft and at least had the deal parameters in place with Russell can't get this done.

Maybe Oakland knew he wanted too much and took him anyway. If so, I guess someone learned a lesson from Houston last year.

This guy is going to be a disapointment!

He will never be worth the money.

Anyone that watched SEC football can see he was on talented teams and never stuck out as much as Rex Grossman.

He has a great arm and size, but he will not read defenses for squat.

With as many top 5 picks that the Raiders haved compiled over the last several years, it's amazing to see the futility they have wallowed in, except for the Gruden years.

To me both Quinn and Russell have a long way to go in the greed market to equal "I want to get paid as a #1 pick because I shoulda been the #1 pick" Matt Lienart.

And Eli's refusal to play in San Diego because the New York market equals bigger endorsements also comes to mind.

No one holds a monopoly on greed (and getting what you can, what you're slotted for with an increase over the year before) is the way the game is played.

Plus as long as they're not holding up THIS team, well, ha ha ha!

Actually isn't that in the ballpark for him? Understand many of this year's first rounders are signing contracts for approx 5-10 percent more then players got in 06 while some asking for more upfront money now rather then a more money down the road. BTW: That's why Jerry Jones didn't want to use one of higher picks several years back on a QB because the cost to our cap if the player didn't work out would be a disaster. Same thing will happen to the Raiders if Russell doesn't work out. But it's hard to understand why Raiders didn't have a deal in place cause you better believe Jerry would have.

Just think - with the Browns pick, there is a high likelihood that all the players on this team will be paid less than next year's rookie.

It is my hope that the next CBA will have some sort of clause that will cap pay of draft picks, as it is becoming ridiculous.

If Russell gets that, then Romo will want more- and if he plays well will deserve more. 26 mill guaranteed and 60 million total. For a rookie.
