This is pretty amazing.

"According to the people I've spoken to, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Russell Wilson will receive the first fully guaranteed contract extension for a quarterback -- something that is a rarity in the NFL -- not a rarity, it does not happen," Rapoport said on the NFL Network. "It simply does not happen, but in this case it really might happen and (Seahawks general manager) John Schneider has talked about it in the past, an unconventional type of contract."

If Wilson were to become the highest-paid player in the NFL and receive a fully guaranteed contract, we are talking about a contract with more than $125 million in guaranteed money, which would be twice as much guaranteed money as has ever been seen in a NFL contract.

It would be a game-changer.

They must be in a really good cap position with all those guys on defense along with this potential contract and the money they gave Lynch.

Holy crap. Is Russell Wilson the greatest player to ever play in the NFL? No? Then this is just insane.

Can you imagine if this is a reality? This would set the precedent for all other franchise QBs. They're all going to want fully guaranteed contracts.

I know that every superstar QB contract will surpass the last superstar QB contract but 125 mil fully guaranteed is insane and will not happen.

I am a fan of Wilson and still think that is too much money to offer him. Andrew Luck's agent just got a huge smile on his face.

Good call Josee. Was reported earlier that the Wasserman Media Group (the organization the represents Luck) was very happy indeed, over this latest announcement. Here is the media clip of Luck's agent of Wasserman Media Group, after the Wilson contract report:

The players union made sure that rookies weren't eating up all the cap and put a scale on the contracts, fully guaranteed deals are a step back for most players save a few. I would hope that it has some kind of injury provisions otherwise things could get messy. Just think of all the players that dropped off a cliff getting these deals.

that would be beyond insane. He should get about half to at best 3/4 of what Aaron Rodgers got.

There is no reason to guarantee it all unless he is giving back a ton on the yearly average. Wilson will still sign a deal with 60m guaranteed.

Let Seattle make that mistake, he isn't even $50 million guaranteed good.

Hope they put no spring training clause in the contract, would suck if he ended up with some wacky baseball injury like tommy john, torn rotator cuff, torn labrum. Not surprising though, if you think about it most of the good QBs are pretty much locks anyways and nothing stops them from re-structuring. Where it could get dicey is the end of the contract if they do do a couple of restructures.

LMAO!

This can't be serious.

A 125 million fully guaranteed? Get out of town.

That would be incredibly stupid, no matter who the player is.

Maybe it will not be the biggest contract but just the biggest guaranteed contract.

Either way I don't see Russell Wilson as being the QB, or player, that should get that ground breaking type of deal.

But...that is up to seattle and if they do it and have the money tied up in their secondary the way it is...that team will fall pretty fast due to the salary cap issues IMO because if it is fully guaranteed, I don't see how they can structure it to get cap relief from it later.

its all conjecture at this point but if he had high base salary couldn't they just convert it to SB money and spread it down the line.

The seahawks can make this mistake if they wish. I don't think it will set a precedent for other players because teams will balk at fully guaranteeing contracts. Look how bad baseball is with their contracts.

Dude is way underrated, if he had a Dez Bryant forget about it. Having said all that $125 Mill guaranteed is crazy. What if he gets killed by the Kraken?
