A new Russian reality show where crimes are “allowed” will begin next year.

Game2: Winter will strand 30 contestants in the -104F (-40C) Siberian wilderness for nine months with the surviving winner receiving a $1.6m prize. It will stream 24/7 online.

“Each contestant gives consent that they could be maimed, even killed,” reads an advert. “2000 cameras, 900 hectares and 30 lives. Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”

Contestants will each sign a waiver acknowledging that they might be raped or killed but the rules also state that police are free to arrest anyone who commits a crime on the show. “You must understand that the police will come and take you away,” the rules state. “We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.”

What the heck is this world coming to??

So who would be willing to participate in this reality show or one similar? They said one American will be on this season's show.

Crazy!

It's also supposed to stream live 24/7. Would you watch this?

Anything goes? Bring an AK-47 and wipe out everyone, even the cameras.
What's so backwards is they will "allow" you to be arrested; but only after completion or mid-game? So you're not "allowed" to do anything in "Reality". Sounds more for shock value, but who knows? Agree with OP, this is just asking for trouble while the producers have a legal cop out; only in Russia (kinda;)).

I hear Greg Hardy is still looking for a job. lol
On a serious note, I personally think this is a pretty sick idea, that being said there are a lot of sick people out there that will probably make this show a hit.

People blamed the excesses of Stalin on communism and his paranoia. I think an equally important contributor to the brutality of that regime was the Russian character more generally and tradition of callousness towards the lives of ordinary people.

I think this is pretty much nothing. Sounds like a disclaimer to protect the makers of the show. They can't completely control the actions of the contestants, so they don't want to be sued if any of them do something drastic. The laws are still in full force, and considering everything is being recorded, the chance of those things happening is reduced.

Edit: I guess considering this stuff was in an advert it is a disclaimer that has also been repurposed as a marketing ploy.

I looked into this more and while it's easy to dismiss this as nothing, there really is a ton of room for foul play here.

They will have to survive in an area of over 90,000 acres and only 2000 cameras. There will not be any cameramen so the cameras will be fixed except their personal cameras.

They said anything goes but the law applies. Which means what in Russia?

The participants will be issued hunting knives and no guns are allowed. They will have panic buttons that alert to their desire to quit and if activated will not be allowed to return. If they decide to quit and push their "panic buttons" it will take at least 30 minutes by helicopter to locate and remove them. The surviving participants have to share the prize money. There are not enough cameras in over 90,000 acres of Siberian wilderness.

But in an area where temperatures have reached -89 degrees, I can see everyone hitting their panic button if the weather gets particularly harsh and the show could be a colossal failaire lol

Maybe that's just me, cold is my kryptonite I'd be gone after one long cold night!

So...if it's still against the law and they will be arrested for doing it, then it's not really allowed anymore than anywhere else.
Oh, except that it may be on fillm! Yikes

Possibly being on film, I would assume, is the only way they would be caught.
