With talk of moving Henry to safety why not move Williams up to LB.
We know his strength is being closer to the line of scrimmage for run support. He is as basically as big at 6'1" 225 as Z Thomas 5'11 228 and Burnett 6'3 227. So with Thomas talking about moving on and Burnett a UFA we could move RW 38 up and not cost us $$ for cutting him. I believe he is strong and tough enough to handle to position.

I know many want him gone, but I think it could work.
Anyway let the discussion begin.:starspin

It never ends.

Williams is not a LB. He is not going to be a LB.

I don't believe they will move Hamlin to SS and Henry to FS either. Too much movement.

Have you ever seen Roy try to get off a block?

Didn't think so..

So I guess most would rather $6 Mil plus for nothing for a player that could probably be useful somehow

Repeat after me - Real NFL football is nothing like Madden . . .

I've always been a Roy fan but he has become a liability.

Look at like this, we can spend $7.6 M on Roy and use him on 1st and 2nd downs and maybe Special Teams

or we can cut him.. take $6 million cap hit of dead space, free up an additional $1.6 in immediate cap room and he would be completely off the books by 2010.

We have a winner!

rofl, roy isnt physical enough to be a good strong safety anymore, what in the world would make you think he would be physical enough to play linebacker in the 3-4? besides, he cant cover the tight end at safety what makes you think he could do the same at linebacker. :laugh2:

Of all the responses back to this stupid idea which simply won't go away, that one is the absolute best.

I'M a big fan of Roy, but 7.6 does seem like way too much, problem is how do you replace a starter for a little as 1.6 mil. Why not wait and cut him in the uncapped year instaed of just wasting the 6 mil now.

Roy cannot play as a 3 down LB. Even outside where he would never have a chance to play. But he has played LB for us on certain looks. He is probably not big enough to even play Burnett's position although I don't think it's a crazy idea for that.

Big time.

As a NOLE Fan I love to see Noles go to the Cowboys (Watkins and Holland being current Noles) but many of us don't think M Rolle will ever be a good safety. He is a great story going to Oxford on the Rhode Scholarship, but he is too slow to make it in the NFL. I can't count the number of times he got run by from a team with top end speed. I would love to get Mays from USC but I think we would be where we are this year or higher in the draft or make big trade to move up.

Taylor Mays of USC is going back to USC.

I think Roy should be moved to left guard in the offseason, and compete with Kozier for the starting job.

I think Roy could in the 4-3 cover 2 scheme, but not in the 3-4. Look at Thomas Davis for the Panthers he plays weak side after being a SS his whole life and a couple of years in the pros.
