Julius Thomas - TE - Player Portland State TE Julius Thomas has been drawing comparisons to Saints TE Jimmy Graham.
Thomas participated in two NCAA Tournaments as a basketball player, boasting the school's highest career shooting percentage before switching to the gridiron with 29 catches and 443 yards as a senior. Not quite as explosive or as big as Graham, Thomas recorded a 4.64 forty, 35 1/2-inch vertical, and 16 reps on the bench at the Combine. He's headed for a late-round selection.

Jerrel Jernigan - WR - Player Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, coach Mike Smith, and offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey were all on hand for Troy WR Jerrel Jernigan's private workout Wednesday.
The Falcons need to add an explosive element to their offense, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution suggests Jernigan is a prime target in the second round after running a 4.32 at his Pro Day. Jernigan is ticketed for the slot as a pro, which would make Harry Douglas extraneous in Atlanta.

Weslye Saunders - TE - Player South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders has opted against surgery to repair the stress fracture in his foot.
Saunders' injury is similar to that of Alabama WR Julio Jones, but he's going the rehab route instead. Though his recovery is expected to last through May, he's fully expected to participate in South Carolina's March 30 Pro Day.

I wonder if Jerry will continue Big Bill's way and draft another TE this year (even if it is in the later rounds).

Personally I don't think we should as we got Witten, Marty and will be getting Phillips back but would it really shock anyone if we drafted yet another TE.

I just assume it will happen. Always have to know the TE's by the time the draft happens.

I think Jason wants to get away from typical FB package and go more with TE package, remember that the Cowboys looked at 2 low round TE's, which is where they got John Phillps in 6th round best I remember in 2009.

I'm thinking maybe that USC kid. I'm hoping they don't get eager and bite on the Tennessee kid too soon.

A TE that might be a heck of a steal is Richard Gordon out of Miami. Gordon is a kid who coming out of HS was regarded as one of the best TE prospects to come in to college in years. He timed in the 4.6s when he first came to Miami. However, Miami was so deep at the TE position that he pretty much never saw a lot of reps. He injured himself in the first game against FSU in 2009 and was out for the season. He came back this last year but was primarily used as an inline blocker. The good news is that he has become a pretty good blocking TE. I would imagine that he will probably get a little more speed back as he gets further from his injury and will probably add a little more weight. The thing about this guy is that coming out as a HS prospect, he caught everything. I suspect that this kid still has hands but has never really gotten the opportunity to show that at Miami. He's not high on anybodies radar that I know of but if he comes to a camp in shape, at 6'4 265 lbs, decent speed, the ability to block and catch, he's going to turn into a pretty good player. He's a guy I might watch for if I needed a TE.
