Colin Kaepernick - QB - Player Trainer Chip Smith, who has worked with top-shelf players for 20 years, believes Nevada's Colin Kaepernick is a better athlete than Cam Newton.
Smith has spent quite a bit of time with both players. "Colin is actually a little bit better athletically," said Smith. "He's a little faster -- I've clocked him as low as a 4.4 -- and there isn't a quarterback in this draft who throws the ball with the velocity that Colin does. Colin is a better athlete, and he understands the game better ... Of the 56 quarterbacks I've worked with, Colin is the most prepared for the NFL."

This is no shocker to me. I believe that Gabbert is the best prospect at this point but I believe Kaepernick is right behind him and has much better upside then any of the others.

I really like Kaepernick.

could he be a suprise pick in the top 20 too bad the raiders isnt one of the teams picking before us. I bet Al would spend a top 10 pick on him.

I agree. He might not have the NFL ready status of Gabbert but he's got more upside. And the guy is very fast.

Kap would make a great NFL receiver.

Anyone that thinks he will be anything more than a 3rd stringer at QB didn't watch him play much in college.

He will be an interception machine in the NFL if he gets on the field very much. That is, when he isn't sailing balls over the heads of receivers, or into the ground at their feet.

I mean, seriously, did anyone on here watch him play much?

If he becomes even average NFL QB, it will be one of the greatest, most phenomenal cases of a player improving ever seen.

He may be a phenomenal athlete, but he isn't anywhere near being a phenomenal QB. He just isn't.

Kap won games in college because opponents feared his feet. When they took that away he looked lost. There were a few exceptions to that for him, but not many.

I watched him play several times. I live in New Mexico so I am able to get a lot of WAC games. I've actaully watched Nevada in particular because they are scheduled to joing the Mountain West, which is the same conference New Mexico plays in. He is not a finished product and like many strong armed QBs, he sometimes forces the ball but his skills are uncommon. Had you seen Romo play at Eastern Illinios, I think you might have said some of the same things. He's not ready be a starter in the NFL but his talent and upside are huge.

Me too. If you gotta spend time developing a player he'd be a good one to sit on the bench and get ready.

His foot speed is insane btw.

thanks for the info buddy, its greatly appreciated, when i post some items about these players

to me, when you post about seeing these players it helps us other fans get a view of that player, so if we draft him or watch him in the NFL we have a good grasp about him

good stuff :D
