Ryan Longwell cut after Minnesota Vikings draft kicker



Ryan Longwell's days of kicking in Minnesota are over. The Vikings announced Monday they had cut him.

"Ryan has meant a great deal to the Vikings organization both on and off the field over the past six seasons. We wish him all the best in the future and thank him for his service to the Minnesota Vikings," coach Leslie Frazier said.

You don't bring in 37 year old kickers to create some competition during training camp and pre-season. You bring in 37 year old kickers to replace an injured or ineffective kicker.
