"The Eagles are expected to sign free agent RB Ryan Mathews, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.

Well that came together quickly. Initially, Garafolo reported that Mathews was only coming in for a visit. Apparently talks between the two sides were further along than he had anticipated. The Eagles flirted briefly with DeMarco Murray on Tuesday but they were never going to beat Jacksonville or Oakland in a bidding war. Mathews flashed talent during his up and down stay with San Diego, but his durability is a huge question mark. He's only played all 16 games once in five seasons. He'll be the featured back in Philadelphia with Darren Sproles seeing most of his work on passing downs."

I can't blame them for not be excited. They had McCoy who is better than Mathews and healthy. Mathews is nothing more than a desperation move after they got stood up by Gore.

Mathews shows flashes but so many backs do. He is alwAys injured. Even when he plays he is limited by something.

I know what Chipper is thinking. He believes he can build an OL and put a QB behind it and the talent everywhere else is irrelevant. He's the coach, not me. But from what I've seen, McCoy WAS the Philly offense the past couple of years.
