The book on him is that he's a good tackler, but will get smoked by good TEs.
Report: Knight close to signing

Looks like Sammy Knight's visit with the Giants could be a successful one. The 11-year veteran safety is reportedly close to signing a three-year, $5-million contract that includes a $1-million signing bonus.
Right about where we thought his contract would come in, though the third year was a bit surprising. At least the Giants know what to expect in a smart veteran for the defensive backfield. We'll see if those whispers about his declining speed are true.

Also, don't look for Steelers LB Clark Haggans to be wearing blue anytime soon. According to someone familiar with the Giants' thinking, the team's interest in him is "lukewarm." Doesn't mean he won't land here, just that it won't happen quickly or for a lot of money.
Look for the Jets to make a play for him, though. If they don't get Calvin Pace, that is.
4:03 p.m. UPDATE Never mind. Pace just signed with the Jets. So maybe Haggans will wind up in Miami now???
4:09 p.m. UPDATE I was joking about Haggans in Miami. But somebody didn't get the joke. He's way too serious w
