SA Spurs Thread

That game sucked....too many turnovers, no transitition D, too many 3s instead of attacking the basket.....also, not enough Bonner (he had a nice stroke last night). He should have gotten more looks.

I am looking forward to the Kings game. That should be entertaining. The Kings are starting to build themselves a nice young unit.

GO SPURS GO

I saw a mock with us taking PF/C Gorgui Dieng of Louisville with our first next year....I read up on him, his bio reminds me of Serge Ibaka, at least defensively. If so, he would be a beast for our team. Imagine this guy along with Green and Leonard. Our D would be very impressive.

That's exactly what we need, an athletic big! I wish lorbek would have come over, but he wasn't a great defender anyway

wow, what a game......my heart is racing after that final minute.

last night was great too...I wonder if Cousins learned to keep his mouth shut to Duncan......Timmy showed him who "Daddy" was.....and left Cousins curled in the fetal position sucking his thumb in the corner, while wearing a dunce cap.

Back to tonight....way to overcome a huge deficit....no Tony and DeJuan....but they escaped Portland with a win. Neal, Green, Duncan, Manu, and Jax were outstanding tonight......Mills as well.

6-1 is a very nice way to start the season.....next up, the Lakers...btw, wouldnt it make sense for Phil to make his return against us.....of course it would.

NBA looking into Elliott incident with Cousins
Posted on November 10, 2012 at 11:35 pm by Mike Monroe in Sacramento Kings, Sean Elliott

PORTLAND, Ore. — The NBA is looking into a postgame confrontation between Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins and broadcaster Sean Elliott that took place on the Sleep Train Arena court after the Spurs’ 97-86 victory in Sacramento on Friday.

Elliott, the former Spurs star who serves as analyst on the locally produced telecasts of Spurs games, criticized Cousins for “talking trash” about Spurs captain Tim Duncan during the fourth quarter.

After overpowering Duncan for two baskets and drawing a shooting foul on the Spurs star with about five minutes left, Cousins bellowed to his teammates on the Kings’ bench after drawing a shooting foul on the future Hall of Famer.

Elliott paraphrased Cousins as saying, “I’m going to bust his (expletive).”

Elliott responded after Duncan blocked a Cousins shot at the rim and scored three baskets.

“That’s why some humility is in order,” Elliott said on the air. “You think you’re dominating Tim Duncan, you get it stuffed right back in your face. Timmy doesn’t like to talk trash. But if guys start talking mess to him, he’s going to respond. All that trash talking was premature. I’m not about to let these guys off the hook. Young ballclub should learn from this. Don’t start talking and flapping your gums against one of the greatest players ever. He’s going to make you pay. Tell me who got the best of this exchange.”

Apparently informed postgame of Elliott’s remarks, Cousins appeared on the court in his uniform and confronted Elliott after he and broadcaster Bill Land completed their postgame show.

“I was wondering why Cousins was out there in his uniform waiting for them to finish his postgame show,” said Bill Schoening, who does the play-by-play call on radio broadcasts of Spurs games. “Then I saw them in an animated conversation out on the court.

“I observed Sean walk away from Cousins and Cousins continue to talk to Sean as he left the scene, but I couldn’t hear what was being said.”

An NBA spokesperson said the league is aware of, and reviewing, the incident.

Elliott declined to comment, saying he would let the league investigate and respond as it saw fit.

Cousins was critical of Elliott’s on-air commentary, telling the Sacramento Bee newspaper the Spurs broadcaster was “immature.”

Spurs-Lakers chosen: Tuesday’s Spurs-Lakers game at Staples Center will be televised by NBA TV after being selected for viewing by fans. The game will still be televised locally on Fox Sports Net Southwest.

What a clown. :laugh2:

Lakers should whoop the Queens tonight with Cousins out. This is why so many people are frustrated with DeMarcus Cousins. Alot of talent, but not alot of brains.

I was hoping we could get him and pop would set him straight, but he messed with spurs fam, he is a marked man now!

TD with 18 pts, 9rbs, 4 assists and 4 blocks in 36 minutes of action! Another solid night for the old fella! If he stays healthy I like our chances come may!

That was a really disappointing choke job vs the Knicks last night. And now word is kahwi is gonna miss 10-14 days with knee tendinitis! He is really starting to become like Bowen 2.0 so we will miss him a lot! Hopefully he won't miss more than 2 weeks

timmy won western conference player of the week! congrats to him!

very surprised that we have found ways to win games despite having our SF position basically wiped out with injuries. hopefully stephen and kawhi come back soon, we wont be beating the really good teams without them, as it was evident vs the clips last week

The Spurs have still managed to get 4 in a row but Losing Leonard for a couple weeks and then turn around and lose his backup Jackson for 4 weeks hurts.

Makes us kind of small until they get back

Word, but at least kahwi says he will return for the game vs the Grizzle, that's a very important game for us, it's prob a match up of the two best teams in the west, at least the two best teams right now

@JMcDonald_SAEN: Duncan: "I think I’ve earned it, honestly. I think I’m in the lead in 3-point percentage, and I don’t see why I shouldn’t be there.”

Lol, Timmy is the best!

Great effort by the bench warmers! Took a broken play 3 by Allen to beat them! I wish we would have won the game but these types of performances go a long way in giving the team confidence.

Also, is there any question pop is one of the greatest coaches ever? Like, in any sport? He is incredible. He could probably coach the cowboys and at least get max effort and no mental errors our of them!

@Monroe_SA: Peter Holt, chairman of NBA Board of Governors, needs to remind David Stern who makes the basketball decisions for Spurs

Good luck, lame duck commish

@sweetswatson: "The strategic resting of particular players on particular nights is within the discretion of the teams." - future NBA commish Adam Silver

@sweetswatson: "And Gregg Popovich in particular is probably the last coach that I would second-guess." - Silver part II (from last April).

Nights like tonight are what twitter was made for

@Monroe_SA: I want to hear Stu Jackson (career coaching record 58-78) tell Pop (860-402) who should suit up and he should sit, and when
